Upon entering the building we emptied our pockets to pass through security and we experienced first-hand what is not allowed in the court when one student had to leave his metal ruler with security! Students adhered to court etiquette by bowing to the magistrate upon entering and leaving the courtroom and witnessed a range of interesting cases, including one where the defendant was facing 18 charges! We then moved across the road to the County Court and we were lucky enough to be able to sit in on some County Court cases. In one court room the judge stopped proceedings to explain to us what was going on in the trial. The students were very impressed that he took the time to talk to us and they came away at the end of the day with a much better understanding of court processes and procedures. Mrs Johnson, Mrs Mangan and Ms Marshall MUSIC NEWS The last few weeks have been very busy for our Music students. In addition to the successful Junior Concert held earlier this week, The Senior Band performed at the Highvale Primary School assembly on Monday afternoon. The repertoire was selected specifically for the youngsters, with 'Eye of the Tiger' and 'Sesame Street' proving to be a hit. Baritone saxophonist and outgoing Senior Music Captain, Jennifer McCluskey also took to the stage to conduct 'The Flintstones Theme'. In contrast, last week a group of enthusiastic clarinettists and flautists performed at the Highvale Retirement Village market day. Students performed solos, duets and larger ensemble items. The sausages and cans of soft drink were a welcome reward for the performers!
