PRELIMINARY PROGRAMME
International workshop in head
and neck cancer management
1 November 2014 - Budapest, Hungary
Dear participant,
A warm welcome to all attending the “International workshop in
head and neck cancer management”.
I would like to inform you that as of 28 April 2014 the name of our
Foundation changed to EXCEMED – Excellence in Medical
Education. The name change will not impact your registration status
in this or any other Foundation event.
This transition marks an exciting point in the evolution of the
Foundation. We are proud to have provided world-class education to
thousands of healthcare professionals over the past four decades as a result, the Foundation has become synonymous with delivery
excellence and high-impact CME.
As we further develop our scientific and geographical presence it is
important to us that our name accurately reflects the independent
nature of the education we provide; EXCEMED symbolises our
enduring mission to support the best possible outcomes for patients
through the medical education we offer. We take pride in our
complete dedication to the provision of CME - it is our sole focus and
our passion.
I wish you an inspiring and successful learning experience in
Budapest.
Yours Sincerely
Rachel Clark
CEO, EXCEMED

Aim
Advances in radiation and medical oncology of head and neck cancer
are improving outcomes, but there are many areas of unmet need.
Optimal management is complex, requiring a multidisciplinary,
evidence-based approach incorporating best use of multimodal
therapeutic approach combined with a range of supportive services
for a patient-centered, personalized care; up-to-date knowledge and
guidelines are essential. Combined modality treatment with
concomitant chemotherapy and radiotherapy represents the standard
of care for patients with advanced head and neck cancer and the
introduction of new molecular targeted therapies lead to a further
improvement in treatment outcomes. This live educational workshop
will offer the opportunity to learn from a recognized and experienced
multidisciplinary team current therapeutic options for patients with
advanced and metastatic head and neck cancer. Effective interaction
between the multidisciplinary team and participants will be
encouraged through clinical case discussion dedicated to treatment
planning and delivery.
Learning objectives
After attending this live educational workshop, participants will be
able to:
• Define the methodology of the multidisciplinary approach in the
clinical management of head and neck cancer patients
• Review and apply current and novel therapeutic approaches for
the combined treatment of head and neck cancer patients
• Discuss side effect-management issues and recognize the
importance of supportive care in the treatment of patients with
head and neck cancer
Target audience
Clinical and radiation oncologists experienced in head and neck
cancer management coming from Middle East, Saudi Arabia, Arab
Gulf, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan.
EXCEMED adheres to the principles of the Good CME Practice group
(gCMEp).
