You have borne an exceedingly

FEAST OF THE DEDICATION OF THE LATERAN
BASILICA IN ROME
Ez 47:1-2, 8-9, 12; Ps 46; 1 Cor 3:9c-11, 16-17; Jn 2:13-22
Because it falls on a Sunday, the regular Sunday readings are
replaced with the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran
Basilica in Rome. This feast celebrates not only the Cathedral
of the Diocese of Rome, but the role the pope has always
had as the bishop of Rome. John’s Gospel is the story of Jesus
driving out the moneychangers in the temple. “Take these out
of here, and stop making my Father’s house a marketplace.”

SAINT OF THE WEEK:
SAINT DIDACUS OF ALCALÁ
Born: 1400
Died: November 12, 1463
Memorial: November 13
Canonized: 1588 by Pope Sixtus V
Didacus was sent as a missionary to the Canary Islands in 1442 and
went with the belief that he would be martyred. He converted many
by his preaching and example and returned unharmed to Spain in
1449. He was then sent to Rome, Italy in 1450 for the canonization
of Saint Bernardine of Siena. An epidemic broke out among the
gathered Franciscans, and Didacus worked himself to exhaustion to
help his brothers. It was reported that he miraculously cured many
of the sick.

Flag Drop-Off
CRS & Ebola
The 5th and
6th grade
students of
Jonathan
Alder
Schools are
collecting
worn or
damaged United States flags
that are no longer fit for
service. The flags will be given
to local Boy Scout Troop 90
of Plain City so flags can be
disposed of in a proper and
respectful manner. Flags will
be collected between Oct.
28 and Nov. 25, at Lovejoy’s
Market or given to Canaan
Middle School students.
As of this week, more than
4,900 people have died
from the Ebola outbreak.
Catholic Relief Services
has been collaborating with
the Catholic Church, local
leaders and health ministries
in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra
Leone to educate people
about Ebola, train health care
workers, and provide food
and other critical supplies
to those affected by the
outbreak. CRS has trained
local volunteers to go door
to door—especially in rural
communities—to help spread
the word and distribute
posters, fliers and fact sheets.
Thank You...
...PSR Family!! Thanks to
you, we collected $163.00 to
buy supplies to send to the
soldiers from the concession
stand last Monday evening!
With another donation of
$27, we had an even $200!
Students also brought in
hygiene items to send and
made cards for the soldiers.
Thank you all so much for
making this such a meaningful
and successful project! We
are hoping to get the package
to the soldiers in time for
Thanksgiving! God Bless!
