2015 IPROWD Courses I N D I G E N O U S P O L I C E R E C R U I T M E N T O U R W AY D E L I V E R Y 2015 IPROWD EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAM The Australian Government, the NSW Police Force, TAFE NSW and Charles Sturt University are working in partnership to offer IPROWD training programs across NSW which will assist Aboriginal people to gain entry into the NSW Police Force. In preparation for 2015 Expressions of Interest are now being taken from potential applicants to register. Courses in 2015 may be located at a range of locations across NSW. Applications for 2015 courses close Friday 21 November 2014 For more information: 1300 830 177 www.iprowd.tafensw.edu.au iprowd@tafe.nsw.edu.au ABOUT THE PROGRAM The IPROWD Training Program provides: • A Certificate III Vocational and Study Pathways (National Code 10098NAT TAFE Course No 10759) which meets the entry requirements for the Associate Degree in Policing Practice offered by Charles Sturt University( CSU) for the NSW Police Academy. • Fulltime and flexible course delivery option may be offered in 2015. • An opportunity to undertake an excursion to the NSW Police Academy at Goulburn. • Skills and knowledge in: Communication, information technology, writing and presentation skills, ethics and workplace responsibilities and Aboriginal studies. • Support to acquire the following certificates to meet the requirements of entry: Fitness, first aid and individual learning support. • Funding support for travel and accommodation may be available for students travelling to attend IPROWD Programs. IPROWD SELECTION CRITERIA • Or post to: IPROWD PO Box 787 Dubbo NSW 2830 Students must meet the following criteria: • Be of Aboriginal and/or TSI descent, identify as being Aboriginal and/or TSI and be accepted by your community (you may be asked to provide confirmation). • Be committed to joining the NSW Police Force. • Be prepared to become medically and physically fit and willing to undertake assessment for both. • Minimum 18 years of age. • Demonstrate effective reading and writing skills at interview and appropriate literacy skills. • Have no serious prior criminal history or serious driving offences. • Have a current drivers licence (minimum red Ps). • Be prepared to travel to attend IPROWD Training or temporarily relocate for the period of the course. • Be committed to meet the IPROWD Student Code of Conduct. • Mentoring during and after the IPROWD Program. EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST • Support with completing applications for CSU and the NSW Police Force. • Call the IPROWD team on 1300 830 177 if you have any questions. • Complete the Expression of Interest form (attached) ensuring you provide all information required. • Your local TAFE College or your local NSW Police Station can assist you to send your Expression of Interest form in. • Once we receive your Expression of Interest, we will send confirmation that we have received it. • Once funding for 2015 is confirmed by the Australian Government you will be contacted regarding the screening and interview process. Please note that students are not guaranteed entry into the NSW Police Force or Charles Sturt University as all students must meet the entrance standards or eligibility requirements.
