Message from Father Matt: After extensive conversation with Carl
Johnson, he has informed me of his decision to resign, effective at
the end of this month. I am grateful to him for his generous
acceptance of the challenge of inaugurating a new and much
needed position here at Cathedral. Carl has begun training to
become re-certified in the field of Emergency Medical Response
after discerning that that is where he would like to spend his early
retirement years. The search committee that worked 6 months ago
to fill this new position had consensus that there was an advantage
to bringing in an outside person to fill the role. While there is truth
to the premise, I have decided that there is also real potential to
promoting from within, and so I have asked Lynn Cartledge to be
our new Parish Manager. Lynn has exhibited significant
competence and dedication as Director of our Early Childhood
Center, and I look forward to her bringing those qualities to bear
more broadly in the Parish. May God bless Carl, Lynn, and our
parish in this time of transition!

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house
there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place
for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself.” Jn 14:1-3b
Brochures & shoeboxes are available in the West Vestibule to use

shop, cash donations would be appreciated to help with shipping
expenses. Questions? Call Norma Conant, 364-3203, or Pat
Bartlett, 232-1247.

Stewardship Makes a Difference…Discarding your
old Christmas Tree? Bring it to the Food Pantry. We will
have a Christmas Shoppe for our needy patrons. Getting
different bulbs or decorations? We’d be happy to take them.
Let’s provide that tree for children who would not have one
otherwise.

special marketing website for Buchanan County for the next
two years. This includes a professionally made promotion
video about Cathedral that will become one of our marketing
materials, including our own website and Facebook page. This
fits right in with one of the main goals and recommendations
from our accreditation visit. The cost is $4,500, and we already
have received a $1,000 donation! Thank you so much for your
consideration and help to share the good news of Cathedral!
Cathedral Cash When planning your Thanksgiving dinner
for family and friends, please remember that Cathedral Cash
always carries gift cards for our local St. Joseph grocery
stores. Every time you use your Cathedral Cash cards at Apple
Market, Green Hills, HyVee, or WalMart, a portion of your
purchase returns to Cathedral! You can purchase Cathedral
Cash in the west vestibule after the weekend Masses, order
online, or contact Cathedral School at 232-8486 or
CathedralCash@cathedralsj.org. It is as easy as can be!
Thanks again for your support and commitment to this
program, and congratulations to our families who already are
earning tuition credit for the 2015-2016 school year!
