Monthly Update
November 2014
COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL
Market Commentary
After a tumultuous month in the public markets, all but one of our industry indices posted gains in October. Three of our indices with the
greatest exposure to residential construction (Building Materials, Consumer Durables, and Engineering & Construction) are still down for
the year. Market volatility contributed to the lack of public equity offering activity, but M&A activity remained strong. Notable closed
transactions in October included AECOM’s acquisition of URS and WSP Global’s acquisition of Parsons Brinckerhoff, two large engineering
& construction deals. Heading into the last two months of the year, the major economic indicators for the industrial economy continue
to point toward expansion.
