LIZ BURKETT VACATION
Liz Burkett will be on her honeymoon vacation until
Nov. 24th. During this time Sue Walter (694-4761) and
Joe DellaValle (743-1028) will be leading ACES
Sunday events. If you need anything please contact

WOMEN’S MINISTRY LUNCHEON
The Women's Ministry of St. Mark, which includes ALL
women who are members of our congregation, invites
you all to A Festive Christmas Luncheon to be held on
Saturday, December 6th at 12:30 PM in our school
gym. Women from our sister congregations will once
again be invited. Please mark this on your calendar!!
ITALIAN NIGHT
The EPIC Youth Group will have an “Italian Night” on
November 22nd from 4:30-7:00pm.
Tickets are $10 per adult/$5 per child and will be
available in the Narthex after Saturday and Sunday
worship services. The dinner will feature pasta, chicken
parm, salad, bread and brownies. All proceeds will go
towards supporting EPIC.
BENEVOLENT FUND
The past two years, St. Mark Benevolent Fund has
funded over $5,000 in gifts and donations to our
members in need, Concordia Lutheran Theological
Seminary in St. Catherines, Lutheran World Relief,
Lutheran Service Society, and other international,
national and local outreach ministries.
The Fund is administered by St. Mark Board of Elders
and is supported by memorial donations and the
Thanksgiving envelope and plate offerings.
We ask that you prayerfully consider this worthwhile
ministry when you set aside your Thanksgiving offering.

COUCHES & CHAIRS
Clean Used couches are needed to replace the old
couches for the youth programs. If you have one you'd

THANK YOU
Thank you to the Retired Men's Group especially Tom
Williams, Paul Kolbe and Ron Gentzke for designing and
assembling the ball closet. The new flooring, lighting,
shelves and cabinet have made it much easier to navigate
around and organize. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
LEGO CLUB
The next meeting is this Sunday, November 16th from
5:30-7:00 p.m. in Grandma Jan’s Room at the School
for ages 6 and up. Come show off your building skills,
have a snack and learn some very cool stuff.

Zephaniah 1:7-16

Stand in silence in the presence of the Sovereign LORD,
for the awesome day of the LORD’s judgment is near.
The LORD has prepared his people for a great slaughter
and has chosen their executioners.

“On that day of judgment,” says the LORD, “I will
punish the leaders and princes of Judah and all those
following pagan customs.

Yes, I will punish those who participate in pagan
worship ceremonies, and those who fill their masters’
houses with violence and deceit.

“On that day,” says the LORD, “a cry of alarm will
come from the Fish Gate and echo throughout the New
Quarter of the city. And a great crash will sound from the
hills. 11 Wail in sorrow, all you who live in the market
area, for all the merchants and traders will be destroyed.

“I will search with lanterns in Jerusalem’s darkest
corners to punish those who sit complacent in their sins.
They think the LORD will do nothing to them,
either good or bad.

Now concerning how and when all this will happen, dear
brothers and sisters, we don’t really need to write you.

For you know quite well that the day of the Lord’s return
will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. 3 When
people are saying, “Everything is peaceful and secure,”
then disaster will fall on them as suddenly as a pregnant
woman’s labor pains begin. And there will be no escape.

But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear
brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the
day of the Lord comes like a thief. 5 For you are all
children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to
darkness and night. 6 So be on your guard, not asleep like
the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. 7 Night is the
time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. 8 But let
us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the
armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the
confidence of our salvation.

For God chose to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ,
not to pour out his anger on us. 10 Christ died for us so
that, whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we
can live with him forever. 11 So encourage each other and
build each other up, just as you are already doing.

“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by
the story of a man going on a long trip. He called together
his servants and entrusted his money to them while he
was gone. 15 He gave five bags of silver to one, two bags
of silver to another, and one bag of silver to the last—
dividing it in proportion to their abilities. He then left on
his trip.

“The servant who received the five bags of silver began
to invest the money and earned five more. 17 The servant
with two bags of silver also went to work and earned two
more. 18 But the servant who received the one bag of
silver dug a hole in the ground and hid the master’s
money. 19 “After a long time their master returned from
his trip and called them to give an account of how they
had used his money. 20 The servant to whom he had
entrusted the five bags of silver came forward with five
more and said, ‘Master, you gave me five bags of silver to
invest, and I have earned five more.’

“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good
and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling
this small amount, so now I will give you many more
responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’

said, ‘Master, I knew you were a harsh man, harvesting
crops you didn’t plant and gathering crops you didn’t
cultivate. 25 I was afraid I would lose your money, so I hid
it in the earth. Look, here is your money back.’

“But the master replied, ‘You wicked and lazy servant!
If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered
crops I didn’t cultivate, 27 why didn’t you deposit my
money in the bank? At least I could have gotten some
interest on it.’28 “Then he ordered, ‘Take the money from
this servant, and give it to the one with the ten bags of
silver. 29 To those who use well what they are given, even
more will be given, and they will have an abundance. But
from those who do nothing, even what little they have
will be taken away. 30 Now throw this useless servant into
outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing
of teeth.’

The Board of Evangelism is asking for your support for the Magdalene Project whose
mission is to share the love of Jesus, lead lost souls to Christ, and introduce them to a local
church where they will be loved, accepted, and discipled by the body of Christ.
In the Narthex you will find our “Care and Share” Christmas tree decorated with ornaments
that include the name, age and “special request” of each child. Gifts can be placed in the
box near the tree. All gifts should be returned by Sunday, December 7th. Thank you
for supporting our outreach program for the past few years.
