FAPEMIG-THE UNIVESITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN
RESEARCH MOBILITY CALL FOR PROJECTS
The State Funding Agency of Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG) and the University of
Texas at Austin (UT) are pleased to invite applications for the FAPEMIG-UT
Research Mobility Call for Proposals.
This call aims to support scientific mobility for teaching and research activity of
a UT faculty member in a University or Research Institute located in the State of
Minas Gerais in all areas of knowledge.
The award will be from 1 (one) to 3 (three) months starting from August 2015
and granted between FAPEMIG and UT according information available in this
call.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 18th of February 2015 at 5 pm
Brazilian time.
A single, joint application must be developed by the Brazilian and American
applicants
using
the
application
form
available
at
Everest
http://everest.fapemig.br. This application must be written and submitted in
Portuguese.
1.
Objective
The objective is to support scientific mobility for teaching and research
activity of a UT faculty member in a University or Research Institute
located in the State of Minas Gerais in all areas of knowledge.
2.
Eligibility
2.1.
On the Brazilian side, criteria for eligibility are:
2.1.1. The proposal must be submitted only by researchers working within
Universities and Research Institutions located in the State of Minas
Gerais and registered at FAPEMIG.
2.1.2. The applicant must be developing a collaboration activity with a UT
faculty member.
2.1.3. The researcher must be responsible for only one proposal.
2.2.
On the American side, criteria for eligibility are:
2.2.1. The co-applicant from UT must be a faculty member.
2.2.2. The co-applicant must hold a PhD degree
2.2.3. The co-applicant is not allowed to combine other Brazilian scholarship or
fellowships during the period of activities in Minas Gerais.
2.2.4. The co-applicant must dedicate exclusively to the activities planned in the
proposal submitted by the applicant to FAPEMIG.
3.
Funding
3.1.
UT will be responsible for the travel expenses (round trip ticket in
economic class) and health insurance.
3.2.
FAPEMIG will be responsible for the monthly stipends, based on
FAPEMIG’s values:

4.
Application process and assessment criteria
Applicants should submit a joint proposal using the application form
available at http://everest.fapemig.br in Portuguese
Applications to this call will be assessed by both FAPEMIG and UT
through a joint review process.
Final decision will be made jointly by FAPEMIG and UT.
Proposals will be assessed against the following criteria:
4.1.
The quality of the mobility proposal.
4.2.
The record of the applicant and the institution in Minas Gerais the area of
mobility proposal.
4.3.
The record and suitability of the US-based co-applicant in the area of
proposed mobility.
4.4.
The expected benefits for the career development of the applicant and
the co-applicant.
4.5.
Evidence that the partnership will lead to a long-term collaboration
beyond the tenure of the award
