*Call to Worship
The day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
We will remain vigilant as children of the light.
A new day is dawning. Forsake the ways of darkness.
We will live soberly as children of the light.
Put on the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of hope and salvation.
We will prepare ourselves as children of the light.
Let us encourage one another and build each other up.
We will work for the kingdom as children of the light.
Moment of Decision/Profession of Faith

*Closing Blessing & Prayer
With God’s love in your hearts, go forth sharing of yourselves, living the good news, and showing great
affection in this world that God loves.
Departure
*Opening Prayer
Liturgist
God of fall and winter, God of spring and summer, you know the seasons of our lives. Let the season of
darkness and doubt pass away, that we may be reborn in your light. Lead us into a season of light and
warmth: a season of joy; a season of sober judgment; a season where all your children are clothed in the
breastplate of faith and hope, and the helmet of hope and salvation. Lead us into a season of kingdom
building, and we will put aside the ways of darkness to live as children of light. Amen.
“Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee”

Epistle Lesson Romans 12:1
For the Word of God in scripture, for the word of God among us,
For the word of God within us, thanks be to God!

*Offertory Prayer
Giver of gifts, you know the true value of the talents you bestow upon us. Open our eyes to see the
possibilities they hold for our world. Transform the gifts we offer this day into signs of our
commitment to bring light and love to every task we do. Transform our understanding of our
potential, that we may shine forth: as children of light, as people of faith, and as bearers of hope,
through Christ our Lord, who loves and strengthens us. Amen.
