Welcome to St. Helena Church
Our Church is a center for spiritual growth, where
positive attitudes are developed, where good people
become better, where hurts are healed, where lessons
are learned, where friendships are developed, where
marriages restless find peace, where love is alive, where
God is understood, where the Holy Spirit leads, and
where Jesus Christ is Lord. Together, let us spread the
message of the Gospel to our neighbors.

God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your Son and our Savior, you have made us your sons and
daughters in the family of the Church. May your grace and love help our families in every part of
the world be united to one another in fidelity to the Gospel. May the example of the Holy Family,
with the aid of your Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially those most troubled, to be homes of
communion and prayer and to always seek your truth and live in your love. Through Christ our
Lord. Amen. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!

Liturgy of the Word
The Liturgy of the Word is the
sequence of readings that
prepares us for the Sacrament of
Sacrifice. The readings are not
optional. And not hearing the
readings nor making any attempt
to hear them would be to come
unprepared for communion, just
as we would be if we miss the
reading altogether.
November 25th – Mary of Nazareth
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent
by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to
a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph.

Father in Heaven, Creator of all and source of all goodness and love, please look kindly upon us and
receive our heartfelt gratitude in this time of giving thanks. Thank you for all the graces and blessings.
You have bestowed upon us, spiritual and temporal: our faith and religious heritage. Our food and
shelter, our health, the loves we have for one another, our family and friends. Dear Father, in Your
infinite generosity, please grant us continued graces and blessing throughout the coming year. This we
ask in the Name of Jesus, Your Son and our Brother. Amen.
Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ the King. Christ the King Sunday is celebrated on the last
Sunday of Ordinary time, before the beginning of Advent that starts the new Church Year. As the last
Sunday of the Christian Church Year, Christ the King Sunday is the climax and conclusion of the Church’s
liturgical journey through the life of Christ and the Gospel message. Its purpose is to celebrate the coming
reign of Christ as King of the Earth and his completion of the renewed creation that marks the fullness of the
Kingdom of God. That hope is born from the entire life of Christ and his teachings that have been celebrated
in the seasons of the Church Year during the past twelve months. In celebrating the Reign of Christ the
King, this Sunday also provides an appropriate bridge to the new Church Year that begins the following
Sunday on the first Sunday of Advent with an emphasis on hope and expectation, the longing for the coming
of the Kingdom of God amid the darkness of a sinful world.
I remind you that Thursday is Thanksgiving Day and our weekday Mass will be at 9:00am not
8:00am. As in the past, we will bless bread and invite you to take a bag home with you to share at your
Thanksgiving Dinner. The rectory office will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
I would like to thank the Four Seasons Diner on Cottman Avenue for generously offering a
Thanksgiving Dinner for our parishioners this Sunday, November 30th at 3:00pm in the School Hall. They
have been very generous to our parish over the years catering our Confirmation Dinner for the Bishop.
They truly witness the spirit of giving. May God bless them!
Next Sunday marks the beginning of Advent and the beginning of a new Liturgical Year. We
invite you to bring your family advent wreath to Church next weekend for a special blessing.
Remember in your prayers the sick, the homeless and the needy people of the world and pray that
the Lord will help us to provide for their needs. Let us remember especially those who are away from home
in the service of our country during this holiday season.
Thanks for reading and have a good week and blessed Thanksgiving!
Your Brother & Shepherd,
Rev. Msgr. Joseph Trinh
