Pews News St John the Evangelist Gift Day: November 30th - Building for the Future Church Road, Redhill, Surrey RH1 6QA Registered Charity No. 1135368 Vicar: vacant Church Wardens: Janet Scott 01737 769336 Mike Genge 01737 770891 The chance for each of us to make our personal contribution to the Building for the Future Fundraising Campaign for our new building will take place on Sunday November 30th in the form of a Gift Day. The date coincides with the start of Advent, a word Anglicised from the Latin adventus, meaning "coming" or "arrival". Advent represents a time of waiting and preparing for the celebration of the Nativity and the arrival of Jesus. It focuses our minds on the New Year of the Church. In much the same way, the Gift Day acts as a focal point of a new beginning, heralding the era that our new building will bring. Throughout November, there will be pamphlets and addresses at services as those in the church community consider what they can contribute on Gift Day, as we focus on funding a project that is designed to serve the needs not only of our congregation and community today, but also those of future generations. On November 30th, every member of our church's family will then have the chance, at each of the three services, to either make a one-off donation or instead commit to a regular, monthly contribution over a time period of your choice.
