Physician Director qualifications: To perform the duties of a
Physician Director, candidates should have strength in strategic
thinking; strong listening skills, decision-making skills and

} the ability to commit the time required;

needs to a business board; and
} previous board experience (an asset).
The Board of Directors meets at least five times a year and holds
telephone conferences between meetings. Board members are
paid an annual stipend and a per meeting honorarium. The term
is three years. Service can be extended by up to two additional
terms of three years.

The Division is particularly seeking an individual with interest and expertise in hemostasis and thrombosis.
The Division of Hematology is one of 15 divisions in the Department of Medicine, providing
compassionate care of patients with hematological disorders whose disease may be benign or malignant.
Members are involved in teaching hematology to undergraduate and postgraduate students and to
physicians locally, nationally and internationally in continuing education programs. The Division is
committed to excellence in clinical care, education, and research. Clinical activities will include attending
on the inpatient and consultation services and working in clinic. It is expected that the applicants will
participate in teaching in the setting of clinical teaching units and ambulatory care and be involved in
clinical/basic research in areas that complement those of other members of the Division.

The Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, Schulich School of
Medicine & Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario is seeking a Chair/Chief,
full-time clinical academic vascular surgeon, at the rank of Associate or Full
Professor. The Division of Vascular Surgery is affiliated with London Health
Sciences Centre and is comprised of three vascular surgeons with busy clinical
practices providing all aspects of open and endovascular surgery. The Division has
a strong clinical research interest with a dedicated research coordinator and has an
accredited primary entry vascular surgery training program.
This is a dual position as Chair, Division of Vascular Surgery – Western University;
and as Chief, Division of Vascular Surgery – London Health Sciences Centre. The
Chair/Chief will manage a very complex enterprise within an evolving health care
system. The ideal candidate will possess the vision and scholarly profile to
understand and develop the complex interrelationships between clinical obligations
and the teaching and research strengths of the Department.
The successful candidate must have a strong academic background and will be
expected to participate actively in the Division’s academic and educational
initiatives including teaching and supervision of undergraduate students, residents,
and fellows. Applicants must have demonstrated the ability to publish in the highest
quality academic and subspecialty outlets and be a recognized expert in his or her
field of research. In addition to administrative responsibilities as Chair/Chief,
candidates will be expected to provide in the full range of clinical services required
of a vascular surgeon.
The successful candidate must have an MD or equivalent; have completed an
accredited vascular surgery training program; have received (or are eligible for) a
Certificate of Special Competence in Vascular Surgery from the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent); and be eligible for licensure in
the Province of Ontario.

ACADEMIC NEUROLOGIST – EPILEPSY SPECIALIST
Queen’s Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology, is seeking a qualified epilepsy specialist to join our busy epilepsy service. Clinical
responsibilities would include epilepsy clinics, EEG interpretation, supervision of EEG and video long-term monitoring and rotations on the inpatient
neurology and consultation services. The Division, in collaboration with Neurosurgery is developing plans for epilepsy surgery. The EEG
department is very well equipped to support this new activity.
Research expertise in genetic aspects of epilepsy would be an asset, as would an ability to interpret sleep laboratory studies. A close interdisciplinary
relationship with the Division of Respirology and Sleep Medicine is desirable. The Division has an established residency program in Neurology and
ability and interest in teaching students at all levels is required. There are many opportunities for collaborative research at Queen’s including with our
Centre for Neuroscience Studies. Strong potential for innovative and scholarly research would be expected.

Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Neurology in the Province of Ontario by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in
Neurology and have passed the CSCN examination in EEG. Licensure in Sleep Medicine is also desirable.
