Homer “Gene” Wheeler
Vincent Paul Barranco
Vincent Paul Barranco was born
October 11, 1937, to Rosario
“Sam” and Rose Barranco in
Grenada, Mississippi. He attended
the University of Tulsa, and
received his medical degree from
the University of Mississippi
School of Medicine in 1962.
His internship was spent in New
Orleans, Louisiana at the Touro
Infirmary.
He
subsequently
served three years in the U.S.
Army Medical Corps in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Returning to Oklahoma, he completed a
residency in Dermatology at the University
of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. In
1969, he entered into private practice in Tulsa
with Dwane Minor and Kendrick Doran,
forming the Tulsa Dermatology Clinic. Along
with his accomplished practice, Vince was
also Board Certified in Dermatology and
Dermatopathology, reviewed for the Archives
of Dermatology and Journal of American
Academy of Dermatology, was a member
the Editorial Board of the International
Journal of Dermatology, Clinical Professor of
Dermatology at The University of Oklahoma
College of Medicine at Tulsa and a member
of the South Central Dermatology Congress,
holding positions of Secretary General and
President. In addition, he authored
many articles for medical publications.
Vince’s life was rich with the joy of
being a devoted husband and father.
He loved the practice of medicine and
helping his patients. His enthusiasm
for music, life at the lake and vacations
with family and friends had no limit.
He had a passion for learning and it
brought him great pleasure to share
his expertise and knowledge with
his patients, family and friends. His
spiritual journey was an important part of
his life and led him to become a Benedictine
Oblate. Vince is survived by Lee Anne, his
wife of 51 years, daughter Susie Wrona and
husband Rick, son Paul Barranco and wife
Tonya, daughter Amy Frisillo and husband
Eric, grandsons; Will and Walt Wrona, Joseph
Dunn and Vincent Paul Barranco III, and
Dominic and Vincent Frisillo. Rosary at 7:00
P.M. Tuesday, and Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M.
Wednesday, both at the Church of Saint Mary.

Dr. Stephen Richard Herr
Dr. Stephen Richard Herr passed away on
the evening of November 1, 2013 in his new
home city of Cuenca, Ecuador, after a week of
sharing memories and good-byes with his wife
and children. Steve was born on November
27, 1945 to John and Esther Herr and grew
up in York, Pennsylvania. He attended Juniata
College in Pennsylvania, where he met and fell
in love with his wife Maret Piirand Herr. After
receiving his M.S. in Paleontology from the
University of Iowa in 1970, he moved to Tulsa to
work in the oil industry beginning with Texaco,
on to Amerada Hess, and Mabee Petroleum.
His career finally took him to Dhahran, Saudi
Arabia for four years to work for Aramco;
after resigning his position, he returned home
to Tulsa with his family and acquired a Ph.D.
in Environmental Science from Oklahoma
State University. Steve served as a professor
of physical and environmental science at Oral
Roberts University, charming and inspiring
students with his humor and kindness, for over
twenty years. He was excited about his latest
adventure in South America, and even though
his time there was short, he felt that it had been
well worth the effort. Steve was preceded in
death by his parents. He is survived by his wife
Maret; son Andrew and wife Brenda Herr; son
Jeremy Herr and wife Huey Fang Lim; son
Timothy and wife Ryan Winkler Herr; three
grandsons, Logan, Cyrus, and August (and one
more pending); sister Helen Stoner, brothers
John and David Herr and their families. His
ashes have been laid to rest in Cuenca, where
he can be near his beloved Maret. An informal
memorial service will be held at Boston
Avenue United Methodist Church on Sunday,
November 24, at 12:30 pm. If you would like
to make a charitable donation in Steve’s name,
please consider contributing to scholarships
for students of the University of Oklahoma
and Oral Roberts University.
Catherine L. Westbrook
Catherine L. Westbrook, 81, of
Tulsa, died Thursday, November
14, 2013.
She was born on January 28, 1932,
in Bixby, Oklahoma, the daughter
of Albert and Pearl McMurray.
On January 2, 1953, she married
Max J. Westbrook in Hominy,
Oklahoma.
She loved spending time with
her family, especially her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They
were the light of her life and they consider her
the best grandma in the world! Catherine also
enjoyed doing charity work with her sorority,
ESA.
She is survived by her children; son, Randy
Westbrook, and his wife, Carolyn, of Tulsa,
daughter, Debbie Ledterman, and her husband,
Audra Louise Buthod
Audra Louise Buthod, 90,
passed from this life Sunday, November 17, 2013.
Funeral services for Audra
will be Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at 2:30pm
in the Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service Chapel, Sand
Springs, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in the
Woodland Memorial Park,
Sand Springs, Oklahoma.
Audra was born in Missouri on April 13, 1923, to
James A. Martin and Eva L.
(Bishop) Martin. She was
preceded in death by her
parents, husband, brother
and sister. Audra is survived by daughters Theresa
Buthod and Anita Sexton;
son Dan Buthod and wife
Sheila; sister-in-law Esther
Jones; 4 grandchildren; 8
