Dr Maria Fotaki
Maria studied in Greece and completed
her PhD in Molecular Biology in Canada.
She worked in Hoffmann La Roche, Basel
and joined EPO in 1997 as examiner
in Biotechnology.
Maria is director in one of the Biotechnology
directorates in EPO, Munich.

Dr Laurent Deleu,
Laurent studied Molecular Biology at Ecole
Normale supérieure de Lyon and completed
his PhD in Virology in Heidelberg.
He joined the Centre National de la Recherche
Scientifique (CNRS) and led a group working
on oncolytic viruses at the German Cancer
Research Center (DKFZ).
Since 2005, he is a Patent Examiner
in Biotechnology.

Dr Andreas Gruber
Andreas completed his PhD in Natural Science
in Germany, and has more than 11 years
of experience as patent examiner
at the European Patent Office (EPO).
His duties comprise the chairing of examination
and opposition proceedings in the field
of Biotechnology.
Mr Stephen Pilling
Stephen studied Biochemistry at the University
of North Wales and in Manchester (UK).
After working for the UK National Health Service
in laboratory diagnostics, he joined
the UK intellectual Property Office as an examiner
in 1995. Following relocation to the EPO Munich
in 1998, he has since been active in examination
and opposition and also been involved
in examiner training and quality control.
