18-Dec Stock Market Update December 18, 2014 NMH drops 5.7% to 52-week low Semdex Sem-10 2,064.90 Demex 384.54 200.43 NMH drops an additional 5.7% during today’s session on Rs4.50 lost. The hotel stock closes at Rs75 (VWAP: Rs76.60) reaching a 52-week low. This is the highest dip recorded by NMH for the year so far. YTD, the stock has lost 15% and value traded for the day amounts to Rs3.5m on 46,700 shares where FI transactions on the hotel group are on the low side with FI sales of Rs0.6m. SEMDEX sustains downward tendency closing at 2,064.9 (-0.4%) where market value traded (MVT) stands at Rs32.2m and total volume traded (TVT) is at 2.3m. Foreign Investors’ (FI) transactions remain focused on the sell-side with FI Sales (FIS) of Rs13.4m compared to Rs2m of FI Purchases (FIP). MCBG attracts the bulk of FIS with Rs11m (82%) while SBMH accounts for 52% of FIP. Financial Services: CIM hits an all-time high at Rs9 representing a 3.4% leap day-on-day and features as the top performer of the day. MUA closes 0.4% higher settling at Rs68.25. Industry: Movers are on the downside with GAMMA sliding 4.5% to Rs42 and concurrently reaches a 9-month low. UBP declines 0.6% on Rs0.50 lost ending the session at Rs78.25. Investments: MDIT is the only gainer with +0.3%. NIT closes 0.5% lower, POLICY weakens 0.5% and ROGERS sheds the amount gained yesterday settling at Tuesday’s level of Rs27.80 (-0.7%). Leisure and Hotels: LOTTO adds a further Rs0.20 (+1.9%) closing at Rs10.80. Amongst hotels, NMH dives 5.7% to Rs75 and LUX declines 1.7% ending at Rs59 while SUN closes flat at Rs46. Transport: AIRM records three straight days of gains adding 0.3% for the day settling at Rs17.55. DEMEX moves forward 0.01% to 200.43 as SODIA advances 5% while ENL.P(-1%) and TPL.P (-2%) are on the downside. International equity markets: Advanced equity markets ended midweek’s session in the green whereby NIKKEI added 0.4%, FTSE 100 and EURO STOXX each advanced 0.1% and S&P 500 leaped 2% to 2012.89. On the emerging markets side, major indices were mixed. IBOVESPA (+3.6%) and SHANGHAI COMP (+1.3%) were on the upside whilst MICEX tumbled 2.1%, SENSEX closed 0.3% lower and JSE ALL SHARE declined 0.2%.
