Go Tell It On The Mountain John W. Work Jr.
Go tell it on the mountain
Over the hills and everywhere
Go tell it on the mountain
That Jesus Christ is born
Silent night holy night
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing alleluia

Christ the Savior is born
While shepherds kept their watching
Over silent flocks by night
Behold throughout the heavens
There shone a holy light

8 And there were shepherds living out in the Jelds nearFE, keeping watch over their
flocks at night. 9 An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glorE of the Lord
shone around them, and theE were terriJed. 10 But the angel said to them, "Do not
Fe afraid. I Fring Eou good news of great joE that will Fe for all the people. 11 TodaE
in the town of David a Savior has Feen Forn to Eou; He is Christ the Lord. 12 This will
Fe a sign to Eou: You will Jnd a FaFE wrapped in cloths and lEing in a manger."
13 SuddenlE a great companE of the heavenlE host appeared with the angel, praising
God and saEing, 14 "GlorE to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom
His favor rests."
15 When the angels had leR them and gone into heaven, the she pherds said to one another, "Let's
go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us aFout." 16 So theE
hurried off and found MarE and Joseph, and the FaFE, who was lEing in the manger. 17 When theE
had seen Him, theE spread the word concerning wha t had Feen told them aFout this child, 18 and all
who heard it were amazed at what the s hepherds said to them. 19 But MarE treasured up all these
things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The she pherds returned, glorifEing and praising God for all
the things theE ha d heard and seen, which were just as theE had Feen told.

Our acolEtes learn the

theE De in with the current

season of the church Eear is
Advent (LaDn for “to

Jesus. Advent starts four SundaEs Fefore
Christmas DaE. The color is purple (interchanged
with roEal Flue) and represents penitence and
roEaltE. Advent is a period of preparaDon to
receive the knowledge that Jesus came as a FaFE
to Fe our Ting. The white candle in the ce nter of
the Advent Wreath is the “Christ Candle”.
Following Advent is a 12 daE period calle d
“ChristmasDde”. It represents the visit of the wise
men. It is a fesDval season; the color is white,
represenDng puritE, chasDtE, light and rejoicing.
It is used during ChristmasDde, Easter and for
