Saturday, December 27, 2014 APPROVED BY: Maine Swimming, Inc., Approval #1415-1227 In granting this approval it is understood and agreed that USA Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event. LOCATION: LeRoy Greason Pool, Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Maine FACILITY: LeRoy Greason Pool provides up to 10 deep-water 25 yard competition lanes and four additional 25 yard warm-up/cool-down lanes with non-turbulent lane lines and Colorado Timing System, Aqua Grip electronic pads, and a nine-line readout scoreboard. It has hosted several prestigious events, including NESCAC and NCAA Championship meets and has been used as a training site for Olympic swimmers. The competition pool starting end and turn end have water depths ranging from 7 to 12 feet from Lanes 1-10. The warm-up/cool-down pool starting end and turn end have a depth of 12 to 13 feet. MEET REFEREE: Nicole Viele ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received no later than 8:00PM, Friday, December 19, 2014. All entries will be entered in the order received as space allows. CMA must adhere to USA Swimming’s four hour per session time limit under USA-S rule 205.3.1F. If limits become necessary, teams will be notified through their club contact. If limits are imposed, all eliminated swims will receive a full refund. The host club reserves the right to change the format of the meet in agreement with MSI Sanction Chair and Head Referee in order to make a more efficient meet. Reasons for change could include: to allow more swimmers to swim, to conform to facility capacity limits, or to condense the meet into a shorter time frame. Coaches will be notified of any meet changes. ENTRY PROCEDURE: All entries must be submitted by e-mail using the Hy-Tek format. If you do not have the ability to use Hy-Tek, you can submit a hardcopy of your entries by sending us either an e-mail or mailing it to us by the entry deadline. A hard copy back up is required to be sent by mail or as a PDF by e-mail. All forms must have the swimmer’s full name (first, middle initial, last) and birth date as they were USA-S registered, current USA-S number, seed times, and events that the swimmer would like to swim. Entries with “NT" (no time) will NOT be accepted. All entries must be specified in short-course yard (25-yard pool) times. Meter times must be converted to yard times. Coach’s estimated time may be used instead of NT’s for swimmers without a valid USA swimming time in an event. ENTRY FEE: A $25.00 meet participation fee for each swimmer is required regardless of the number of events a swimmer registers for or participates in. No additional individual event charges will apply. Confirmation of receipt will be by e-mail.) Checks must be received within four business days of the entry deadline unless other arrangements are made. Team entries will not be considered official until after the payment is made. ENTRY LIMIT: Swimmers must be entered in all five (5) events in order to be eligible for awards. DECK ENTRIES: Subject to space availability, and at the discretion of the Meet Director, deck entries will be accepted on the day of the meet for swimmers previously entered in the meet at no additional cost. Deck entries will be accepted only until 30 minutes prior to the start of each session. To enter, club coach should notify Meet Director before or during warm-ups. MEET FORMAT: ALL events are pre-seeded timed finals, mixed age and gender but will be scored by gender and age. This meet is a pentathlon format which expects each swimmer to swim all five events. Swimmers’ times will be combined for a composite five-event time to determine awards. The time line will be one fourhour session or less with appropriate breaks, as needed, between events. Seeding will be mixed age and mixed gender by entry times and will be preseeded with Hy-Tek Meet Manager 4.0. ELIGIBILITY: This approved meet is open to any swimmer who is a properly registered member of USA-S before the start of the meet, a United States Masters Swimming (USMS) or a non-USA Swimming athlete participant. Age is as of December 27, 2014. USA SWIMMING REGISTRATION: Club athletes may obtain USA-S Registration from your Club Registrar. Unattached athletes may obtain forms and instructions from the Maine Swimming, Inc. Web Site; www.maineswimming.org. Direct registration questions to the Maine Swimming, Inc. It is each team’s responsibility to make sure the entry and registration information for each swimmer is accurate. DISABILITY SWIMMERS: Any current athlete members of USA Swimming with a disability, as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations, may enter this meet. If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee and meet director of any disability prior to competition. TIME TRIALS: No Time Trials will be offered at this meet. Northeast Pentathlon Invitational Meet Senior/Age Group Swim Meet Saturday, December 27, 2014 AWARDS: Trophies will be awarded by totaling each swimmer’s times from all 5 events to net an overall time within their age group. The fastest five (5) in each age group by gender will receive individual trophies as follows: 10 and under, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 and over. Each swimmer must swim all five (5) individual events in order to be eligible for individual trophies. Swimmers who choose not to swim all five events will not be eligible for awards, but are allowed to swim for time. Swimmers will not receive a time for any event in which they are disqualified and will not be eligible for awards. ADMISSION: Admission is $2. Program: A complete program will be available for $3.00. RULES: 2014 USA-S Rules shall apply. Decisions by the meet referee are final except as stated in the protest section below. START TIME: 8:30 AM Warm-up; 9:30 AM Meet Start WARM UP: Warm up lanes will be assigned after receipt of entries and may be divided into periods of equal length depending on the number of swimmers entered into each session. A copy of the lane assignment and time will be provided to coaches prior to the meet via email and a hard copy provided in their meet information packets. 2014 USA Swimming and Maine Swimming safety procedures will be enforced throughout the meet. Warm-ups are subject to the following procedures: All swimmers shall enter feet first using the sit and slide method at the starting end of the pool. No diving or backstroke starts will be permitted except when designated by their club coach. Coaches may start one way sprints/starts in their lanes when ready. The referee may remove anyone from the warm-up for failure to comply with the warm-up rules. Swimmers without a coach must report to the Meet Director before entering the pool for warm-up in order to obtain a lane assignment. DECK ACCESS: Only certified and meet registered coaches, session officials, swimmers, and Meet Staff will be allowed on deck. All USA Swimming Registered Officials and Coaches are required to display USA Swimming Credentials (USA-S Membership Card) while on deck. This is a Maine Swimming, Inc. Policy. Coaches and Officials must be properly registered and have all certifications up to date in order to be allowed on deck for this meet. SWIMMERS UNACCOMPANIED BY A COACH: Each participating swimmer must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming certified coach with a current USA-Swimming Coaching Membership or a meet registered coach. Any swimmer entered in the meet must be certified by their club coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. When unaccompanied by a coach, it is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement. RULES: 2014 USA-S Rules shall apply. Decisions by the meet referee are final except as stated in the protest section below Northeast Pentathlon Invitational Meet Senior/Age Group Swim Meet Saturday, December 27, 2014 PROTESTS: A committee will be formed to handle any protests that arise during the meet. The committee will include the meet directors, the meet referee, a coach and an athlete (not from the same team as the originator of the protest). Protests must be submitted as described in the 2014 USA-S rules book. MISCONDUCT: Any issues of misconduct which occur within the meet venue are defined as, but not limited to; violation of safety guidelines, disrespect for meet management personnel, officials or fellow athletes, theft, vandalism, or possession of alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs are subject to removal from the facility and are subject to a MSI Board of Review Hearing. More serious violations may result in legal action by the LSC or local authorities. We are all guests of Bowdoin College and are asked to follow posted facility guidelines. TIMING ASSIGNMENTS: Lane timing assistance is needed from all teams. Bowdoin College is a great facility, but all those lanes come with a price of covering all the needed jobs. Timer assignments for each team will be based on entry size; coaches will be notified of timer assignments at least 48 hours prior to the meet. PHOTOGRAPHY: As per USA Swimming policy, photographers allowed on the pool deck at any time during the meet (including warm-up) must be approved in advance by the Meet Director and must be properly credentialed with USA Swimming (i.e. a non-athlete member with required background check and athlete protection training). NO flash photography during event starts from the stands or on deck. LIABILITY: It is understood and agreed that USA Swimming, Maine Swimming Inc. (MSI), and Coastal Maine Aquatics shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of the event. RESULTS: Final results will be emailed to coaches and available on the MSI website in a (HTML) printable format and in a downloadable Team Manager (Cfile.zip) format. CONCESSIONS: Food and beverages will be available for purchase. PARKING: Free parking is available in front of the building and the adjacent hockey arena. Please park in legal parking spots.
