Darlene Prymak
It is with great sadness that Darlene
has left us on December 16, 2014
to become one of God’s Angels.
Darlene was born in Edmonton then
returned home to the Willow Ridge
area at the home of Bill and Viola
Speers. Darlene’s love of the farm
grew as she raised many a lamb by
bottle. The joy of raising animals
had always warmed her heart.
School began at Perryvale and it
was there that her love of sports
began to develop. The school was
small but they had big hearts and
many of the larger centres took
notice of their abilities in basketball
and other sports. In grade 10 she
began at Edwin Parr High School
and interest in track and field
began. With Coach Roy Gouchey,
Darlene became a strong contender
in throwing events, her best was
javelin. She competed in Western
Canada Championships and won
2 gold medals. She travelled east
to the Canadian Games where she
won a silver and bronze.
Darlene entered university and
graduated with a Bachelor of
Education. During these years, she
met her soul mate Jim who was a
subcontractor in the flooring trade.
They were married in Edmonton
and then moved to Sherwood
Park where they bought a home.
In 1975 they were blessed with a
daughter, Kerri. In the fall of 1975
they sold their home and purchased
an acreage east of Edmonton
where their first son, Jordan, was
born. They spent the next 4 years
there, raising their young family.
In 1979 they sold their home and
began building a new home in the
Willow Ridge area. Darlene and
Jim spent did most of the building
themselves, which was many hours
of labor. In 1980 they were blessed
with their second son, Justin. In
1981 they opened up a floor shop
in Athabasca. The years were spent
in this business and small scale
farming.
As the children grew, Darlene
coached gymnastics, worked the
hockey kitchen, and did whatever
else to help out. Many a summer
weekends were spent at ball
tournaments. It was always a family
outing, no matter who was playing.
A real special person was Darlene
- wife, mother, and super grandma.
Thank you to the Athabasca
Hospital for their care and to all
her friends and relatives for their
visits. Anne, what can I say but
thanks. Trevor, for your kindness
and help, thank you. Darlene had
nothing but kindness in her heart
for everyone. She will be greatly
missed by all who knew her. My
love for her is forever and one day
we will be together again…Bye for
now, Babe…..Jim
Darlene is survived by her loving
husband of 45 years, Jim; her

grandchildren: Brooke, Brayson,
