SCHENGEN VISA
for applicants residing in Trinidad and Tobago
The following is a brief summary of requirements for a short term stay for up to 90 days for Trinidad
and Tobago citizens and citizens of other countries residing in Trinidad and Tobago with Germany,
Estonia, Italy, Malta or Portugal as their main destination.
Students as well as persons who intend to stay in Germany longer than 90 days: Please refer to
separate requirement sheets on our website at www.portofspain.diplo.de.
The Schengen Visa process takes from three days up to two weeks in certain cases. The applicant
can submit the visa application three months prior to your travel arrangement. An appointment is
needed, which can only be booked via our website.
Please include a copy of all original documents submitted with the application. The Embassy can
request more documents than those submitted by the applicant. The applicant is advised that
submitting the required documents does not guarantee automatic issuance of the Schengen visa.
All documents submitted in Estonian, Italian, Portuguese or any other language have to be translated
into German or English by an officially recognized translator.
Please be informed that knowingly providing false information during the visa process will result in
your visa being denied.
SCHENGEN VISA
Requirements are:

one recent passport size photograph (with light coloured background; do not attach
to the application form)
fee for a Schengen visa: 60.00 EUR; for children between the age of 6 and 12 years
the fee for a Schengen visa is 35.00 EUR. The fee has to be paid in cash and
in TTD only according to the exchange rate of the Embassy.

Visa fees are non-refundable. Children under the age of 6 are exempt from
Schengen visa fees. The visa fee is also waived for applicants married to or parents
of minors with German or EU nationality while exercising their right to free
movement.
Please include the original marriage or birth certificate as well as a certified copy of
the spouse’s or child's EU passport.

confirmed flight reservation (no ticket purchase required)
for students: a letter of attendance from your school or university

copy of the parent(s) valid picture ID.

you. This document has to be obtained from the aliens authority in the city of
residence of the host in Germany.
for Estonia, Italy, Malta or Portugal: the invitation letter of your
Italian/Estonian/Portuguese/Maltese host (include copy of passport from the host
and if applicable, valid resident permit in Estonia/ Italy /Malta/Portugal).
health insurance with Schengen-wide coverage for medical, emergency and
repatriation expenses Minimum coverage has to be at least 30,000.00 EUR and
your insurance has to have a representative office in one of the Schengen states.
Upfront coverage is required with minimal deductible.

Additional information for a business:
invitation letter from the company in Germany/Estonia/Italy/Malta/Portugal stating
who is invited, for how long and for what purpose. It must be mentioned whether the
costs of flight, accommodation and lodging are covered.
If the trip is not paid by the German /Estonian/Italian/Maltese/Portuguese side you will
also need:
□ confirmation from your employer that all costs are covered by the company
□ health insurance with Schengen-wide coverage for medical, emergency and
repatriation expenses Minimum coverage has to be at least 30,000.00 EUR and
your insurance has to have a representative office in one of the Schengen states.

Additional information for airport transit through Germany:

complete flight itinerary which must clearly state if you change airport terminals in
Germany
valid visa for your connecting flight and final destination.
Health insurance is not needed
At the present time Trinidad and Tobago nationals do not require an airport transit visa. However, that
is under the assumption that the connecting flight is within 24 hours and that you arrive and depart
from the same Airport Terminal in Germany. In that case you are not going to leave the transit area.
You would need to have your visa and ticket for your connecting flight and final destination.
