A READING FROM Isaiah 61:10-62:3
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD,
my whole being shall exult in my God;
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation,
he has covered me with the robe of righteousness,
as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland,
and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
For as the earth brings forth its shoots,
and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring up,
so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise
to spring up before all the nations.
For Zion's sake I will not keep silent,
and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest,
until her vindication shines out like the dawn,
and her salvation like a burning torch.
The nations shall see your vindication,
and all the kings your glory;
and you shall be called by a new name
that the mouth of the LORD will give.
You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the LORD,
and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.

The Word of the Lord.
Thanks be to God.
Psalm 147 (spoken)
1 Hallelujah!
How good it is to sing praises to our God! *
how pleasant it is to honor him with praise!
2 The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem; *
he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 He heals the brokenhearted *
and binds up their wounds.
4 He counts the number of the stars *
and calls them all by their names.
5 Great is our LORD and mighty in power; *
there is no limit to his wisdom.
6 The LORD lifts up the lowly, *
but casts the wicked to the ground.
5
7 Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; *
make music to our God upon the harp.
8 He covers the heavens with clouds *
and prepares rain for the earth;
9 He makes grass to grow upon the mountains *
and green plants to serve mankind.
10 He provides food for flocks and herds *
and for the young ravens when they cry.
11 He is not impressed by the might of a horse; *
he has no pleasure in the strength of a man;
12 But the LORD has pleasure in those who fear him, *
in those who await his gracious favor.
13 Worship the LORD, O Jerusalem; *
praise your God, O Zion;
14 For he has strengthened the bars of your gates; *
he has blessed your children within you.
15 He has established peace on your borders; *
he satisfies you with the finest wheat.
16 He sends out his command to the earth, *
and his word runs very swiftly.
17 He gives snow like wool; *
he scatters hoarfrost like ashes.
18 He scatters his hail like bread crumbs; *
who can stand against his cold?
19 He sends forth his word and melts them; *
he blows with his wind, and the waters flow.
20 He declares his word to Jacob, *
his statutes and his judgments to Israel.
21 He has not done so to any other nation; *
to them he has not revealed his judgments.
Hallelujah!
Galatians 3:23-25; 4:4-7
Now before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith
would be revealed. Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so
that we might be justified by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer
subject to a disciplinarian.
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born
under the law, in order to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might
receive adoption as children. And because you are children, God has sent the Spirit
6
of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba! Father!" So you are no longer a slave but a
child, and if a child then also an heir, through God.

THE GOSPEL:
Reader: The Holy Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ according to John 1:1-14
People Glory to you, Lord Christ.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was
God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him,
and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him
was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and
the darkness did not overcome it.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. He came as a witness to
testify to the light, so that all might believe through him. He himself was not the
light, but he came to testify to the light. The true light, which enlightens everyone,
was coming into the world.
He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did
not know him. He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept
him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to
become children of God, who were born, not of blood or of the will of the flesh or of
the will of man, but of God.
And the Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the
glory as of a father's only son, full of grace and truth. (John testified to him and
cried out, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me ranks ahead of me
because he was before me.'") From his fullness we have all received, grace upon
grace. The law indeed was given through Moses; grace and truth came through
Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God. It is God the only Son, who is close to the
Father's heart, who has made him known.
After the Gospel, the Reader says
The Gospel of the Lord.
People Praise to you, Lord Christ.

THE SERMON
The Reverend Todd Hoover
The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary,
and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

HOLY COMMUNION
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER A
OFFERTORY SOLO
All On A Wintry Night
July Collins (born 1939)
David Peters, soloist
All on a wintry night a bright star was shining down upon the little town of
Bethlehem
The shepherds in their fields were amazed at the sound of angels singing in
Jerusalem
Three wise men made their way ever traveling night and day
with myrrh and frankincense and gifts of gold
And Mary, meek and mild labored with her first born child
And Joseph sheltered with them from the cold
The angels and the animals were kneeling to His glory to praise the Son of God
Come once upon a time the promised Prince of peace
The babe in swaddling clothes in His mother’s arms did lie
embraced within a lullaby of light
The angels sang on high, their song of heaven bright
redemption came upon that blessed night
The trembling voice of shepherd, the harp that played a melody
And Joseph knew among the straw the glory of divinity
the promised Prince of peace
Then let us praise His name, the baby King of light
And make a place within our manger stall,
His promise is renewed pon each Christmas night
for you, for me, for shepherd King
And all the glory of this humble verse relieves us of our poverty
and we are rich in blessing
For He was made for you and me, the promised Prince of Peace
The promised Prince of Peace.
OFFERTORY HYMN 82
Of the Father’s love begotten
The Eucharistic Gifts are brought forward.
The people remain standing. The Celebrant says
Celebrant
The Lord be with you.
People
And also with you.
Celebrant
Lift up your hearts.
People
We lift them to the Lord.
Celebrant
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People
It is right to give him thanks and praise.
11
Divinum mysterium
The Celebrant proceeds
It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give thanks to you,
Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. Because you sent your beloved Son to
redeem us from sin and death, and to make us heirs in him of everlasting life; that
when he shall come again in power and great triumph to judge the world, we may
without shame or fear rejoice to behold his appearing.
Therefore we praise you, joining our voices with Angels and Archangels and with all
the company of heaven, who for ever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of your
Name:
Celebrant and People sing
Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
S 130
The people stand or kneel.
Then the Celebrant continues
Holy and gracious Father: In your infinite love you made us for yourself, and, when
we had fallen into sin and become subject to evil and death, you, in your mercy, sent
Jesus Christ, your only and eternal Son, to share our human nature, to live and die as
one of us, to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.
He stretched out his arms upon the cross, and offered himself, in obedience to your
will, a perfect sacrifice for the whole world.
At the following words concerning the bread, the Celebrant is to hold it, or to lay a hand upon it; and at the
words concerning the cup, to hold or place a hand upon the cup and any other vessel containing wine to be
consecrated.
On the night he was handed over to suffering and death, our Lord Jesus Christ took
bread; and when he had given thanks to you, he broke it, and gave it to his disciples,
and said, "Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the
remembrance of me."
After supper he took the cup of wine; and when he had given thanks, he gave it to
them, and said, "Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is
shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this
for the remembrance of me."
Therefore we proclaim the mystery of faith:
Celebrant and People
Christ has died.
Christ is risen.
Christ will come again.
12
The Celebrant continues
We celebrate the memorial of our redemption, O Father, in this sacrifice of praise and
thanksgiving. Recalling his death, resurrection, and ascension, we offer you these
gifts. Sanctify them by your Holy Spirit to be for your people the Body and Blood of
your Son, the holy food and drink of new and unending life in him. Sanctify us also
that we may faithfully receive this holy Sacrament, and serve you in unity, constancy,
and peace; and at the last day bring us with all your saints into the joy of your eternal
kingdom.
All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ: By him, and with him, and in him, in
the unity of the Holy Spirit all honor and glory is yours, Almighty Father, now and
for ever. Amen
As our Savior Christ
has taught us,
we now pray,
And now, as our Savior
Christ has taught us,
we are bold to say,
People and Celebrant
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your Name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those
who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial,
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And Forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.
THE BREAKING OF THE BREAD
The Celebrant breaks the consecrated Bread. A period of silence is kept. Then may be said
[Alleluia.] Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us;
Therefore let us keep the feast. [Alleluia.]
The Celebrant says the following Invitation
The Gifts of God for the People of God.
The Bread and the Cup are given to the communicates with these words
The Body of Christ, the Bread of heaven. Amen.
The Blood of Christ, the cup of salvation. Amen.

2015-2017 VESTRY NOMINEES
Terry Colli
Growing up in a small town in rural Manitoba, Canada
gave me a strong grounding in the importance of family,
serving the community and the need to respect diversity.
In 1978 I moved to Washington, DC to begin my career at
the Canadian Embassy where I served for nearly 30 years,
the last five of which were as Executive Director, Public
Relations.
Upon retirement in 2007 my partner, Jerry Oshinski, and I
divided our time between Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and
Fort Lauderdale. In 2012 we decided that Fort Lauderdale would be our fulltime
home and All Saints became our Church. We love everything about this parish – its
spirituality, its liturgy, its respect for diversity and especially its outreach into the
community and dedication to service.
Since joining, I have been active in participating in this service. For over two years I
have been a member of the Building and Grounds Committee working actively with
the weekly grounds maintenance program (mowing grass and trimming); helping
paint in the Church, the Parish House and the offices; assisting with the construction
of a new deck at the Parish House; helping prepare the grounds for the annual Boat
Parade fundraiser; and participating in the semi-annual Church cleanup days. I have
also supported the Social Committee with the setup, takedown and serving at various
events and provided meals for the Beds Around the Altar program. On a separate
note I have also participated in the “Journey to Faith” seminars.
I am committed to serving the All Saints community spiritually, physically and
practically, including its mission of outreach to the Fort Lauderdale community at
large.
Kathy Dean
I began attending All Saints in February 2003, shortly after
moving to South Florida from Greensboro, North Carolina. I
immediately joined the choir, which is still a vital part of my
spiritual life here. Within my first year here, I created a new
music ministry, our first handbell choir, which was highly
successful for a number of years. Unfortunately, due to a
variety of issues, that choir ended in 2011. Other activities in
which I have, or still, participate include Vestry member (2006-2008), Education for
17
Kathy Dean (cont.) In 1972 I left the Methodist Church and joined the Episcopal
Church. My father, mother and sister eventually joined the Episcopal Church too.
They are now buried in the urn garden of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in
Greensboro, a church with whom I still have a strong connection. I served as the
choir directory there until I moved to South Florida in 2002. Some of the elements
that attracted my family to the Episcopal Church were our love of music and the
congregational participation in the liturgy. The use of a Prayer Book was a foreign
concept to us, but it made it easy for us to figure out the order of the service, and
made us feel welcomed and included.
Welcome and inclusiveness are two very important concepts for anyone coming to a
new place of worship. These are also strengths that I believe we strive for here at All
Saints. While we are not perfect, we keep trying. When we make a mistake or
misstep, we pick ourselves up, try to right the wrong, and move ahead.
It would be a great honor and privilege to serve this community of believers as we
continue our spiritual journey.
Jack Gillis
Most of you know me fairly well. Some of you may think of me
as that guy that’s always taking pictures. To be honest,
photographing the people and events at All Saints may be the
ministry that I enjoy the most and volunteer to do without being
asked or even invited. I sincerely believe that documentation of
the life of this great community is important and relevant to our
past and our future. However, there are other ministries that I
love and feel blessed to have been a part of.
I have served on the Building and Grounds Committee for the
past four years. I have had the pleasure of greeting many of you on Sundays and
other services over the last several years in my role as usher. Chaperoning the
families with Beds Around the Altar has brought me many blessings. Probably the
most rewarding and the most challenging of all is volunteering with the summer
reading program at Saint Ambrose.
I was baptized at All Saints in 2002. I was confirmed here in 2012. All Saints is where
I have been encouraged to serve in capacities that I was not aware I was capable of or
worthy to do so. Christ calls all of us to service. With God’s blessing and your
support, I will serve you, as well as those who have not yet passed through our doors,
for the next term as we all move through this important time in the life of All Saints.
It is my desire

Lane Bruce Hop
I’m a long time member of All Saints. I have served on many
committees and have served on 2 vestries with two former
priests. My husband and I are also members of the Legacy
Society.
I just recently co-chaired this year’s boat parade festival which
cleared a record $12,579; and also the church survey to help find
our future rector. I enjoy being an usher and welcome minister.
It would be an honor to serve the next 3 years on the vestry
where I feel I can bring the knowledge of what we are looking
for in our new rector. It is in my best interest to help see that happen.
Thanks, Lane Hop
Bill Peters
Bill has been a member of All Saints since 2008 and has just
completed a six-month volunteer assignment of
coordinating the Focus Groups portion of the Transition
process. Bill, the son and grandson of Methodist ministers,
grew up in Philadelphia and earned a Bachelor of Science
degree from Temple University.
During his tenure at All Saints, Bill served a three-year term
on the Vestry, one as Senior Warden. He served as an
Officer of the church in the position of Clerk. Bill organized
a unique annual Stewards Campaign that involved members
as solicitors. In addition,
he chaired the All Saints Centennial celebration in 2012. Bill has completed the fouryear course of EfM.
Bill lived in New York City and worked in the corporate and non-profit areas. At the
United Negro College Fund, he was the campaign director when UNCF received
a $50 million grant, the largest ever to a black organization, from the Walter
Annenberg Foundation. As Development Director of Lambda Legal, he organized
the first national fund-raising campaign in support of same-sex marriage (Baehr v.
Miike, Hawaii. 1993). (cont.)

Bill Peters (cont.) “Of the many events that I have been blessed to be a part of, the
recent focus groups have had a deep effect on me. They have made me more aware
that listening is a major component of positive communication. Congregants with
over sixty years membership along with newcomers of six months came together and
shared their feelings and hopeful expectations for the future. With this experience, I
would like the opportunity to join the Vestry and work together with the current and
future leadership.”
Bill and his partner of 28 years, Warren Davidson, were married in New York on
11/1/11. Their newest addition of four months is Bella, a two year old miniature
schnauzer.
John Wolfe
I am a life long Episcopalian starting in New Jersey moving
to Connecticut and now Florida/Vermont. Met my wife,
Joan, at Young Peoples Fellowship many years ago. We
have 2 sons and 4 grandchildren. Joan and I have been a
member of All Saints for 10 years and will be a forever
member with a slot in the columbarium. I earned a BS in
Business and spent my career in large Mainframe Data
Processing. I attend the 8 o’clock service. Have been
involved with Blessing of the Fleet, Rummage Sale and MIT
Box Collections among other things. For the past four years
I have been a volunteer at the Bonnet House.
I intend to bring to the Vestry, the prospective of the 8
o’clock congregation to the Vestry activities. I believe in the
“Out Reach” programs under way but I feel we need to spend some efforts on “ In
Reach” programs to enhance the All Saints experience as well as grow the
congregation. I will bring a wealth of knowledge gained over the years attending
may different Episcopal parish’s across the north east.
I would appreciate being considered for the vestry at All Saints and look forward to
serving with the other members of the board.
