Thought for the week
Our time of waiting is not over yet but we are not far off. In today’s Gospel
we hear of Mary being told about the birth of Jesus. She did not panic or
get flustered, she just said yes to God. What would our response be?
These last few days of Advent can pass in a bit of a blur; there is so
much to prepare, and many of us are on the move, perhaps visiting
friends and family. In the midst of the festive frenzy, it can be easy to lose
sight of the true meaning of Christmas. Why not take some time for quiet
prayer today? Focus your heart and mind on the true Christmas message: a child is born for
us, a son given to us. But this Incarnation of God among us did not only happen once, ~ 2000
years ago; it continues in each one of us, Christ’s presence unfolding in the world.
Take a moment to reflect on the fact that light does indeed dawn for us this Christmas!
Psalm Responses
21st December:
I will sing forever of your love, O Lord.
Midnight Mass:
Today a saviour has been born to us; he is Christ the Lord.
9am Mass:
This day new light will shine upon the earth: the Lord is born for us.
11am Mass:
All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
28th December:
He, the Lord, is our God. He remembers his covenant for ever.
4th January 2015:
All nations shall fall prostrate before you, O Lord.
