Hughes Justice Complex Trenton, New Jersey December 24, 2014 January 9, 2015 MINIMUM SALARY: $38,122** MAXIMUM SALARY A: $57,739*** MAXIMUM SALARY B: $51,689*** ANNOUNCEMENT: POSITION NO.: #14-144-15 042698 POSITION DESCRIPTION The Superior Court Clerk’s Office is seeking an individual who possesses excellent communication and data entry skills and is committed to providing exceptional customer service to customers and staff. Under the general direction of the Clerk of the Superior Court or other supervisory personnel, the selected candidate will provide support and assist in case management functions related to public access to the Judiciary’s electronic systems. The selected candidate will code information or documents for entry into a computer terminal; operate a computer terminal or a personal computer for information processing; verify authenticity or validity of documents or archived records; compose non-routine correspondence; review case status with judges or division managers; review complaints for routing to appropriate unit, department or individual; answer inquiries from the public, attorneys or vicinage staff; explain judiciary policies or procedures to clients or customers; inform clients or customers about available services. The selected candidate may also perform related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS Open to employees in the Superior Court Clerk’s Office who have an aggregate of one year of permanent service as of the announced closing date in the following career (classified) service title: Judiciary Clerk 2 Judiciary Clerk 2 Bilingual ELIGIBILITY FOR ADVANCEMENT: Eligibility is based upon the applicants having achieved all the competencies for advancement to Judiciary Clerk 3 title as listed on the Career Progression Eligibility Form for this title. Applicants for advancement to the Judiciary Clerk 3 title are not required to take a New Jersey Civil Service Commission promotional examination. DRIVER’S LICENSE: Appointee will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. AUTHORIZATION TO WORK: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. RESIDENCY LAW: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the “New Jersey First Act,” which became effective September 1, 2011, all persons newly hired by the Judiciary on or after that date shall have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. New Jersey state employees hired prior to September 1, 2011 who transfer from within the Judiciary or from another State of New Jersey appointing authority without a break in service greater than seven days but who reside outside the State of New Jersey are not required to change their principal residence to New Jersey in order to comply with the Act.
