Invitation and Welcome Message
Dear Colleagues,
Seven years after the decision of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) to hold
its 2015 Congress in Toronto, Canada, the excitement continues to grow. As the Society and the ISTH
2015 Local Organizing Committee plan the details for the much anticipated congress from June 20 to
June 25, 2015, we invite our stakeholders to learn more about our meeting and consider opportunities to
collaborate, support and partner with the ISTH in its mission of advancing the understanding, prevention,
diagnosis and treatment of thrombotic and bleeding disorders.
As the host city of ISTH 2015, the XXV Congress of the Society and 61st Meeting of the Scientific and
Standardization Committee (SSC), Toronto, a multi-ethnic city, will open its arms to many thousands of
scientists and clinicians in our field from around the world.
The Local Organizing Committee for ISTH 2015 consists of leading researchers and physicians from across
Canada, reflecting the span and level of scientific activity in thrombosis and hemostasis in this country
Sam Schulman, MD, PhD
President, ISTH 2015
and around the world. One particular pioneer of many, David Sackett, at McMaster University, pioneered
evidence-based medicine and it was applied here for improving the management of thromboembolic
disorders. The evidence-based clinical guidelines emanating from McMaster University have achieved
international recognition. Likewise, and for many years, Canada has played a leading worldwide role in
research in hemophilia and von Willebrand disease.
As a result, for more than two decades, young clinicians and scientists from around the world have come
here to learn clinical research methodology continuing Canada’s long tradition as a particularly welcoming
country and attracting some of the world’s best talent. It is therefore very appropriate that the ISTH hold
its premier worldwide congress in our field – especially when young as well as experienced scientists from
around the globe will converge to report and learn about the latest advances in thrombosis and hemostasis,
exchange ideas and expand their networks.
Critically important for the benefit of our patients are the diagnostics and treatments that are being
developed and that we, as clinicians, have at our disposal. We therefore consider our collaboration with our
industry partners of paramount importance, and we will make every effort to ensure that your participation
is worthwhile. We do this while maintaining the highest scientific standards and with the spirit of
collaboration at the forefront. ISTH 2015 will provide you with a unique platform to meet with partner
scientists, clinical investigators and clinicians, and also to forge new cooperation with key opinion leaders,
clinical or laboratory scientists, educators and allied health professionals.
The conference venue, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC), is conveniently located in the
city’s downtown area and is within walking distance to many hotels and restaurants. Additionally, the
metropolitan infrastructure of Toronto will provide the ideal environment for an outstanding event and
memorable delegate experience. With an airport that is an international hub with direct flights to all six
inhabited continents in the world and 75 operating airlines, getting to Toronto is easy and affordable from
all over the globe.
We welcome you to Toronto for ISTH 2015 and look forward to a strong collaboration in making this the
most successful ISTH congress to date.
Sam Schulman, M.D., Ph.D.
President, ISTH 2015

Sponsorship Levels
ISTH Priority Point System
The Priority Point System of the ISTH attributes sponsorship items and exhibition space at its
meetings according to a point allocation system. This system is implemented to allow for a
clear and transparent process for you, our ISTH industry partners, as you select sponsorship
and exhibition opportunities. Points are calculated and rank positions determined by the total
spend an industry partner makes during the three years leading up to the current meeting (SSC
meetings and the ISTH congresses combined). Top ranking companies are provided with this
manual in advance and are given first priority to symposium slots, exhibition space and other
sponsorship opportunities. The full details on the ISTH point allocation system are available
upon request by contacting the ISTH’s Corporate Relations Consultant, Margo Price at
margo_price@isth.org.

Due to increasingly strict regulatory environments and feedback from our industry partners, we recognize some support items, like
social events, have been considered as non-sponsorable. However, because some re-interpretations suggest food and beverage
may be paid for by companies if considered a reasonable meal or refreshment for a delegate during the course of the meeting, we
are including such items in this prospectus should your team consider to support them.
If you have an idea for a service, sponsorship or promotional option not included in this manual, please let us know. We are always
happy to discuss opportunities that are in accordance with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements and provide
benefits to our delegates, industry partners and the ISTH.

ISTH 2015 Rules and Regulations
ISTH Abstract Embargo Policy
Accepted abstracts are published on the website of the congress in a searchable format two
weeks prior to the meeting and will also be made available on an USB stick at the congress (the
“Abstract USB stick”).
Academic institutions, private organizations and companies with products whose value may
be influenced by information contained in an abstract, may issue a news release to coincide
with the availability of an abstract on the USB stick. However, the ISTH strictly requires that
information going beyond that contained in the abstract, such as discussion of the abstract,
presentation of data or other details that will be presented at the congress, is under embargo
as outlined above. Violation of the embargo may result in the abstract being withdrawn from the
congress and/or other measures deemed appropriate.
It is not considered a violation of this policy if the information contained in the abstract is
presented or has been accepted for presentation at another meeting (as noted during abstract
submission), or if the abstract is published in a peer-reviewed journal after the abstract
submission deadline.
It is the responsibility of the submitting author to inform interested parties about this policy. If
there is a breach of the embargo at any time by a media organization, we ask that the company
or organization contact the ISTH communications department immediately.
ISTH 2015 Media Policy
Media credentials are reserved exclusively for working members of the editorial media, including
print, broadcast, radio or online. In order to maintain an environment conducive for quality
professional interactions, media credentials are only available to media that are related to the
industry, or those that cover another relevant topic. Public relations, advertising, publishers and
marketing personnel representing manufacturers do not qualify for media credentials. Video
production companies that are representing exhibitors or those that are charging companies
to be covered do not qualify for media credentials. All media are required to follow the media
policy in its entirety. Approved individuals who abuse their media privileges or who misrepresent
themselves in obtaining their media passes may risk having their credentials revoked, and their
names banned from attending the ISTH meetings in future years.

It is important that each sponsor ensures that Canadian Pharmaceutical Regulations and Codes
of Practice are adhered to internally. Parent companies, subsidiaries or divisions of Rx&D
members based outside of Canada must adhere to the applicable laws and regulations and
provisions as the Canadian Rx&D members themselves.
Companies are advised to contact their local Canadian affiliate.
The ISTH reminds sponsors, exhibitors and their agents or designees of their responsibility to
be aware of and to abide by all guidelines and codes regarding the relationship between the
pharmaceutical and medical device/ equipment industry and healthcare professionals that are
applicable to your company.
Recommendations about pharmaceutical guidelines must come from your internal legal departments as ISTH, ISTH 2015 and MCI Suisse may offer no advice that can be construed as legal.
Cancellation of Exhibition
It is mutually agreed that in the event of total or partial cancellation of the XXV Congress of
the ISTH and 61st Annual SSC Meeting due to fire, strike, natural disaster (either threatened
or actual), government regulations or causes which would prevent its scheduled opening and/
or continuance that are outside of ISTH’s control, this agreement will become null and void. In
such case, the ISTH shall determine an equitable basis for a refund of a portion of fees after
due consideration of expenditures and commitments already made. Under no circumstances is
the ISTH or the Organizers responsible for any supporting company’s expenses (such as travel,
lodging, or exhibit shipping), or any other incidental or consequential damages.
Third Party Companies
ISTH 2015 and MCI Suisse will communicate exclusively with clearly identified third party
companies officially mandated by participating exhibitors and sponsors. Queries received from
third party companies (i.e. communication and press agencies) which do not clearly indicate
which company they are representing will not be answered.
Hospitality Events
Companies are welcome to arrange for external events outside of the official meeting times
but these must not run concurrently with the ISTH 2015 official program, special and satellite
symposia or technical sessions, or the official networking evening.
Please note any events over 25 people held during the congress dates must be approved by
the Organizers. Companies holding events without approval may face penalties and possible
exclusion from participation in future ISTH events. Please note that organizing events that run
concurrently with the ISTH 2015 official program, the Welcome Networking Reception or the
Main Congress Networking Event is not permitted. You are allowed to organize an event during
the President’s Dinner.
