Aero Space Education:
Last month we began the unit on Galaxies and how they are formed. Cadets learned the basics of Galaxies both local and super clusters. This
month's Astronomy class will end the unit on Galaxies and we’ll return to Earth for our Final part of CAP-Astronomy in the study of Earth/Space
Science. Cadets and Seniors will learn the basics of geology, how the Earth works and its relation to Aerospace, as well as our complex weather
systems. The Unit concludes with a look in space technology, flight and space engineering. CAP-Astronomy is works on a cycle basis, and the
next cycle begins in the Summer.

73rd Anniversary of CAP and Special Event Station, N0C was a HUGE
success:
I am very proud to report that the 73rd Anniversary of CAP and Special Event Station, N0C was a
HUGE success!!! ILWG amateur radio operators logged, at last count 357+ contacts worldwide.
The operators this year made contacts via Aeronautical HF Mobile. 1st Lt. Gary Brown utilized his
personal Piper Arrow PA-28 aircraft and we made many airborne contacts flying between 200010,500AGL. LTC Bob Becker monitored the aeronautical progress from his ground station and
logged all stations who contacted the aircraft. Gary also made contacts from his ground station in
the PSK31 mode.
We also had some distant stations (DX) who we logged in from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Germany,
United Kingdom, Russia, Sweden and many various Canadian stations.
We had the pleasure of talking with many active and retired members of CAP. They look forward
to our yearly event that the ILWG operators put on and they always check in.
This would not be a huge success without the generous efforts and help from the following
individuals: LTC Bob Becker for his logging, software programs and all around troubleshooter.
LTC Ted Lohr who manages our website. Gary Brown who is a BIG part of our Special Event with
his insight and planning, the gracious use of his personal aircraft and the many modes of
communications that he operates on. Michael Petz for his many hours without a break of
contacting the most stations on a single frequency. Gerald Hofbauer and Peter Fox for their
operating skills covering the southern part of the state. And finally to our many friends like Maty,
Perry and Joe at the ARRL in Newington, CT. who have made it possible to disseminate our
yearly Special Event Station world wide throughout the many publications and Internet websites.
They are true friends and supporters of ours.
