The Baptism of the Lord:
On this final Sunday of the Christmas season, we see
an adult Jesus at the beginning of his ministry, and hear the
proclamation that he is the Son of God. We too were named
sons and daughters of God on the day of our baptism. As we
gather for our prayer today, let us reflect on our own vocation
and how the lives we are leading as Christians are pleasing to
our heavenly God.
Thank You:
Thank you to all who gave donations for the flowers
and decorations and to everyone who worked to makes our
churches look beautiful for the Christmas season.

St. Charles Three-Year Olds Educational Program:
Parents from Cassville approached St. Charles Parish
and inquired if it would be possible to create a program for
three-year olds in the area. Last fall a committee looked into
the need, the interest of parents and their willingness to pay
tuition to fund the program. The committee found that a
number of parents in the area took their three-year old children
to other communities to attend pre-school programs. With
sufficient commitment from a number of parents, the
pre-school program has started and is located in St. Charles
School. Class is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and is
taught be Jackie Edge-DeShaw. Although we have a sufficient
number of students to begin the program, we could still
accommodate two or three more for this winter. If you are
interested in enrolling your three-year old child for this winter
or for next fall, please contact St. Charles School at 725-5173.

E
ach of us has a mission, each of us is called to change the world,
to work for a culture of life, a culture forged by love and respect
for the dignity of each human person.
~ Pope Benedict XVI, Address in Hyde Park, London, Sept. 18 2010
Baptism of the Lord
Celebrate Life:
“Whoever is moved by love begins to perceive what
“life” really is. He begins to perceive the meaning of the
word of hope that we encountered in the Baptismal Rite: from faith I
await “eternal life” - the true life which, whole and unthreatened, in
all its fullness, is simply life. Jesus, who said that he had come so that
we might have life and have it in its fullness, in abundance (cf. Jn
10:10), has also explained to us what “life” means: “this is eternal life,
that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you
have sent” (Jn 17:3). Life in its true sense is not something we have
exclusively in or from ourselves: it is a relationship. And life in its
totality is a relationship with him who is the source of life. If we are in
relation with him who does not die, who is Life itself and Love itself,
then we are in life. Then we ‘live’” – Pope Benedict XVI, Encyclical
on Hope, November 30, 2007.
