Salary + Benefits
: Level 5, A Basic from 230,000 MMK + Medical refunds 120 USD per year with
other social benefit and training packages.
Job purpose
The Lab Technician will provide assistance in carrying out of laboratory activities in accordance with PU-AMI
internal and international guidelines. He/She will work under the responsibility of Project Medical Advisor (PMA)
and direct supervision of the Laboratory Technicians Supervisor.
Job activities
1) Implementation








Assist medical officers in specimen collection procedures
As required by the laboratory technician, assist in laboratory investigations in preparing material,
reagents, and environmental work conditions in order to facilitate the activity
Perform proper disposal of infectious medical waste regularly
Specifically preparing smear slides from various clinical specimens and its preparation for staining of the
slides.....
Carry out the lab activities related to STIs in HPCs clinics accordance with PU-AMI internal and
international guidelines
2nd reading for TB smear slide from previous month
RPR testing for syphilis. Haemoglobin estimation testing, Urine RE, Stool RE,....etc
Be cautious and strictly follow the infection control procedures sited by the organizations
2) Reporting and forms filling





Registration for tests request
Complete Lab forms accurately and samples/slides systematically for quality control
Ensure the appropriate use of lab consumable
Participate to a good reporting and registration of the analysis done and their results in order to keep a
written track of activity and to be able to write regular report
Maintain records of lab tests and results in proper order
3) Lab activities


Know and apply hygiene protocols (for individual and collective protection). Carry out cleaning and tidying
up of the laboratory. Behave in order to avoid biohazards
Under the supervision of the lab supervisor, participate in the efficient management and organisation of
laboratory equipment and supply: stock follow-up, storage conditions, inventory, follow-up of expired
reagents and kits and their proper disposal
4) Other

Give good communication to health care seekers of any kind with no stigma

Report immediately to the technical referent any problem arising in the service, especially the loss/
robbery/damage of medical equipment or medicines
Transport samples to other Laboratories if necessary
Maintain principles of confidentiality and privacy
Upon request according to the needs of the project (accomplish the tasks assigned by PMO/Lab
Supervisor for smooth running of organizational activities
Requirements
-
Diploma of Lab Technician
Experience in STD/HIV AIDS lab procedures
Previous experience working in INGOs, LNGO is preferable
Capacity of organization; efficient practice in registration and recording
Fluency in English and computers skills (Microsoft office)will be an asset
Team work and team spirit with strong motivation to work for community
