Thank you to all staff, students and families for another positive & eventful year at
Echuca Primary School. Congratulations to our 2014 Grade 6 graduates who celebrated
the end of their Primary Schooling last night. They should be very proud of their
achievements and be encouraged to go forth and make their mark on the world. Special
congratulations to our Award winners and appreciation to past 208 student, Bridgette
Furphy for her inspiring speech about the importance of having a positive focus, being
organised and having a ‘can do’ attitude to make the best of opportunities an education
can offer.

Christmas Spirit
NEWSLETTER
Coming together as a community at our carol singing
evening only demonstrates our strong sense of
connectedness by sharing the joy of listening to and
watching our students perform. In the true 208 way of
giving to others our Christmas tree is laden with very
generous donations for the Salvation Army. Thank you
very much.
With so many people to thank, last week I forgot to
mention that Mrs Tracey Burton will be returning to
Echuca College. Teaching younger students has been a
pleasant change for Tracey, though she is no stranger
to primary teaching as she used to teach at 208. We
thank her for her commitment and invaluable
experience.
Issue 39 Week Ending 19th December 2014
Over the past two and half years the school has
benefited from support by our very skilled and
compassionate Chaplain, Mr Alan Corby, fondly
known as Corbs. Unfortunately for us, the school was
not successful in regaining funding through the
National Schools Chaplaincy Programme. Corbs has
become an integral part of our school community
through his committed work, attendance at special
events, camps and excursions. His faith has helped all
community members through hard times. It is with
great sadness that we farewell Corbs and so wish him
only the very best in his future endeavours.
Term 1 next year I have been asked to continue the
Acting Principal role until the thorough process of
appointing a Substantiative Principal is conducted by
the School Council following DEECD guidelines. I’d
like to especially thank Rob Hogan and Scott
Trewhella for their supporting role as Assistant
Principals. They have capably balanced their
classroom teaching and the many tasks I have asked
of them. Thank you to the parents of their students
for your support and understanding. I am truly
grateful for the amazing community at 208, who
make my job so easy and enjoyable.
May your holidays be safe, fun but restful.

Congratulations to our high achievers in Kilometre Club in 2014.
We are very proud of their success and gathered them altogether for a photo.
NEWSLETTER
In 2014 we had the highest level of achievement with a group of 62 students achieving 100km and 12 students
attained the 150km level of achievement. Throughout the year they have shown a strong commitment to their
personal health goals. We like to reward all students who join the 100km Club with a T Shirt and badges. In 2015
we are looking for extra sponsorship to meet these costs. The program is highly regarded and the students continue
to strive for greater goals.
Issue 39 Week Ending 19th December 2014
In 2015 we are hoping to attract some sponsorship towards the T Shirts and badges. If you can assist please see
Carmel O’Connell or talk to Lisa Davidson via the office.
