CATALYST CONFERENCE: FRIDAY 27 FEBRUARY – SUNDAY 1 MARCH 15 We’re delighted to welcome Karl Martin from Central Church in Edinburgh as our guest for the Catalyst Conference at Carnmoney this year. The Conference begins on the Friday at 7.30pm, tickets are £5 and can be purchased online or after worship from Sunday 25 January. CATALYST BREAKFAST Are you involved in serving or leading in any area of church life? If the answer is yes, then we’d love you to join us for the The Breakfast on Saturday 28 February (9.30am – 12.30pm) here in church. This will be an opportunity to connect with other leaders and volunteers to reflect on current practice and prepare to develop the ministry you are involved in. Please speak to Michael Wylie or your organisational leader to book your place. FUSION TONIGHT Bake off, Extreme Makeover and a Chocolate Fountain will all help us to explore the BASIC STORY. Plus we will launch details of our 2015 Fusion Weekend and forms will be available for the first time. For all Years 8+ from 8.00 – 9.45pm. THE ZONE A meeting of all the Zone Team will take place on Tuesday night in the Session Room from 7-8pm. If you are involved as a leader in either Junior or Senior Zone please come along to discuss our plans for the rest of the year. Senior Zone will meet as normal on Friday night from 8-10pm. No Junior Zone this Saturday night. MARRIAGE PREPARATION CLASSES will commence on Wednesday 28 January in the Session Room for 5 weeks. CARNMONEYCHURCH NEWS, EVENTS & NOTICES PARENTING COURSE The Parenting Children Course will be held in Carnmoney Church commencing Monday 23 February and every Monday night until 23 March from 7.00pm - 9.30pm. The Course is for any parent or carer of children, whether they consider themselves to have strong parenting skills or are struggling. The practical tools of the Course are applicable to everyone who has responsibility for a child or children from birth up to the age of 10 years. Titles of the weekly DVDs are: • Building Strong Foundations. • Setting Boundaries. • Teaching Healthy Relationships. • Our long term aim. VOTERS LIST Copies of the draft Voters List for 2015 are on display in the Vestibule and first floor landing of the church building. If you think that you have been wrongly included or excluded from the list please speak to the Clerk of Session, Paul Elliott today at the latest. The definition of a voting member and how to lodge an objection to any other name on or excluded from the list are set out below: Voting Members 175(1) Voting members in the Church are communicants on the roll of the congregation who are listed, whether by name or number, as having contributed to the stipend or weekly freewill offering of the congregation in the last financial year. (2) In addition to those so listed the following shall also be qualified, if themselves communicants on the roll (a) A wife shall be qualified on a husband’s contribution, and vice versa, where both are communicants. This shall also apply should the contributor himself or herself not be a communicant. If neither husband nor wife in such circumstances is a communicant, then their contribution shall qualify the eldest child, residing in the family, who is on the communicants’ roll. (b) Should a contributor, who is not a communicant, be a member of a family residing together, then his contribution shall qualify the eldest member residing in the family who is on the communicants’ roll. (c) Those who have been added to the communicants’ roll of the congregation since the close of the last financial year, upon confirmation by the treasurer that they have contributed during the current year, shall also be qualified voters. MISSION AFRICA are currently looking to send approximately 6-8 people (17+) to Nigeria from 1st-28th August 2015. Activities will include youth and children’s ministry, sports clubs, discipleship groups and Bible club programmes. The theme is “Living and Dying Well” and the conference will deal with a number of sensitive and important issues facing our society connected with the end of life. The speakers are experts in this area and the conference organisers are confident that this will be an excellent event. The issues dealt with will be of interest to medical people and those in the caring professions as well as pastors, lay visitors and those who work in the legal profession.
