The Washington State Academy of
CONFERENCE INFORMATION
T
he Washington State Academy of Physician Assistants is proud to host this Recertification Review Course and Spring Conference.
We understand PA’s preparing to take the NCCPA Recertification Examination need to review major medical subject areas. All
Physician Assistants need CME to remain certified and to help them to continue to provide excellent patient care. Our goal is to
help meet both of these needs and to make your learning experience a pleasant one.
Accreditation (start earning Self Assessment hours at
our conference)
31.75 hours of Category I CME will be applied for through the
AAPA. Approximately 10 of these hours can be applied toward the
Self Assessment credits needed for the new ten year certification
maintenance process.
Concurrent Lectures
Concurrent lectures will be offered with an expanded list of topics
for attendees. These sessions are meant to provide advanced and
more specific topics for attendees, especially for those returning
from past Recertification Review Courses. Audio CD’s and DVD’s
are available for sale for any lecture that you miss.
Electronic Syllabus
WAPA will be providing an e-syllabus in place of a paper syllabus.
The link will be sent to your email address 1 week prior to the
start of the conference. It will have all of the speaker presentations
(powerpoint slides, outline, articles). At registration check in,
each attendee will receive a packet of information (schedule,
raffle rules and events that you signed up for). The e-syllabus can
be downloaded to your laptop or tablet so you can follow along
during the presentations. The e-syllabus will be available online
for 3 months after the conference. Watch for an email from
WAPA with instructions on how to view the e-syllabus online.
There will be complimentary WiFi in the lecture halls.
Concurrent Workshops
Like concurrent lectures, the concurrent workshops are intended to
provide conference attendees with medical education alternatives.
The workshops will be conducted in smaller rooms, with limited
enrollment to maximize the hands-on nature of the sessions. Each
workshop requires an additional fee from each attendee.
Practice Exam Workshop — FREE
WAPA is offering a Test Taking Workshop and Self Assessment
Examination for PA’s preparing for PANCE and PANRE. The
workshop is scheduled for Sunday morning from 7:00am –
9:00am. Bonnie Dadig, Ed.D, PA-C has been assisting students
and graduates prepare to take their certifying and recertifying
examination for over twenty years. Dr. Dadig has prepared a
self- assessment examination containing 80 items based on
the NCCPA’s test grid. The self- assessment examination will
immediately follow the one hour test taking seminar. This will
give you an opportunity to see what kinds of questions to expect
on your upcoming exam. The practice examination is designed
to allow you to assess your relative strengths and weaknesses and
correct answers are provided for immediate feedback. Having
this experience in a non-threatening environment early in the
conference will assist you in your preparation for your exam.
Parking
WAPA has decided to cover the costs of hotel parking. Daily
and overnight parking will be complimentary to all conference
attendees.
Automated Response System
The main lecture hall will offer an automated response system
designed to enhance interaction between you and the speakers. A
hand-held remote will allow you to respond to questions asked by
each speaker.
Registration/Reception
Pre-registration will be available on Friday, April 24, 2015, from
7:00 pm–9:00 pm in the WAPA suite at the Doubletree Hotel. Ask
for the room number at the Hotel Registration desk upon check
in. Please join us for hors d’oeuvres and beverages Friday evening.
MEDEX NW and WAPA Award Ceremony
The Seattle PA program, MEDEX NW, will be hosting a reception
the evening of Saturday, April 25th in Maxi’s Lounge on the 14th
floor of the tower from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.

attend. Free admission, guests welcome, no host bar and a pasta/
dessert bar will be provided. Join us in celebrating some exceptional PA students and honoring extraordinary PAs in Washington.

An administrative fee of $75.00 is withheld from all refunds. No
refunds will be made after the course has begun. Registration is
limited to available space.
Job Listings
A job list will be posted on a bulletin board by the registration
desk. It will be provided to share information regarding job
opportunities that are available. You may want to bring a CV to
share if you are actively looking for a new position. Or if you are
looking to hire a PA, please bring a brief job description with
contact information and we will gladly post the ad for you.
