PLANNING OUR
FUTURE TOGETHER
We are inviting active disciples to
complete the Church Assessment
Tool (CAT), an on-line instrument
that will help leaders gauge the
strength, vitality, and trends in our
church. The information gained
from this assessment will be
valuable in helping the leaders of
Trinity Lutheran Church as they
make decisions about the future.
Last week an email with a unique
link to the CAT was sent out. If you
received the email (check your
SPAM folder), please go online by
clicking on the link and tell us
about your experiences in and
priorities for our church. Please
do not discuss the survey or your
answers with others as this may
influence their answers.
Computers and assistance are
available in Hyson Hall on Sunday
morning and in the computer lab
during the week if you need
internet access. Contact Carolyn
Hoagland in the church office to
schedule a session.
All answers are strictly anonymous. We have no way of matching any assessment to a particular
person, so please feel free to
candidly share your perceptions,
opinions and experiences.
Our future together is dependent
on your participation and honest
answers.
Congratulations, Ali Burcham & Michael
McKeever on their Wedding Celebration
Saturday, January 24th, 2015.

ASP 2015
You are missing the fun!
ASP still has openings for
our trip this summer. We
currently have what
amounts to 4 ½ crews
signed up. We need at least one more adult,
over age 25, and we still have openings for
youth and young adults. Right now, we know
that we are going to Kentucky, which has some
of the poorest counties in the country. Our trip
dates are June 27th to July 6th.
If you are interested in celebrating our 30th
YEAR helping some of the nicest, friendliest,
most thankful people in our country, then come
join us. NO skills are needed, only your 2
hands and a desire to help. There are jobs to
do like building foundations, wallboard, tiling,
painting, and woodworking. Your job might
even be to sit and talk with the families. They
will love you!
We can’t explain it; you have to experience
it! Please contact Karen Wenhold at
215-264-7042 to request an application
packet. We need to have our teams completed
by Feb. 8th, so don’t delay!

ADULT FORUM
COUNCIL CLIPPINGS
From January 6th Meeting
January 25, 2015 (No Adult Forum)
Congregational Meeting
February 1, 8, and 15, 2015
Luther as Editor
and Illustrator
Presented by The Rev. Karl Krueger,
Ph.D.-Library Director & Professor of
the History of Christianity
This three-week series examines the
German Bibles that Martin Luther worked
on in 1534 and 1541. It presents Luther
as an editor and illustrator who worked
closely with the printers in Wittenberg so
that text and image would showcase
evangelical theology. The sessions feature
PowerPoint presentations that let us see
and experience the novelty of Luther's
integrative approach. Come, see, and be
enriched.
1. Council approved the 2015 Furnishing Allowance for Pastor Lutz ($5,000) and Pastor
Skilbred’s Housing Allowance ($15,600).
2. Discussed the development of a Narrative
Budget to share at the Congregational
Meeting. It will show in narrative form and
by percentages how the numerical budget
supports Worship (and music), Learning
(faith formation), Serving (social outreach
and benevolence), and Fellowship
(discipleship, ministry support, and caring).
3. The nominating committee has recommended and will present Barbara Rodgers and
Jake Loburak to fill church council positions
of Hannah Shade and Jeff Hyson at the
congregational meeting.
4. The congregation will be asked to participate
in the Church Assessment Tool (CAT) which
will provide a clearer picture of who we are
as a church and what our direction/focus
should be for the future.
5. A Thank You letter was received by the
church along with a check for $2,000.00
from the Vuong family, who escaped from
Vietnam and arrived in the US in September
of 1979. They were welcomed and supported by families at Trinity until they could
support themselves. Several members
who were involved in that support are still
members today.
BAD WEATHER
Weather announcements will be
posted on Trinity’s website, Facebook
and announced on WNPV 1440 AM.
To receive an email alert, sign up on trinitylansdale.com to receive emails. The church office,
building and activities typically follow North
Penn School District weather related closures.

Sign Ups for Small Groups begin on February 1
Looking for a Lenten discipline to enhance your spiritual journey? Why not
join a small group! The small group/congregational read book is “Custom
Designed Reflection Guide: Ordinary People Hearing God’s Call”. We'll
focus on how God has “Custom Designed” us with special gifts, experiences, and a call. Each of the book’s 12 chapters has a short teaching section
on a facet of our call followed by many reflection exercises. It is organized
under five "P" words. Each of these P words is a section: Power, Places,
Plan, Purpose, and Press on. We will read and discuss, explore and
consider each of the "P" word sections during the weeks of Lent.
Pick up your copy of the book, or stop in Hyson Hall beginning February
1st to purchase one. Contact Andrea Baxter with any questions.

W EEK
As a means of recognizing the witness of exemplary Christians throughout church history,
Evangelical Lutheran Worship includes many commemorations which may be observed in corporate
worship as well as in personal devotions.
Sunday, January 25, 2015-Conversion of Paul
The week of prayer begun by the remembrance of Peter's confession now comes to an end as
we recall the pivotal moment in the life of the other pillar of the early church, the apostle Paul. His
encounter with the risen Christ turned him from persecutor of the followers of Christ to one of
their leaders.
Monday, January 26-Timothy, Titus, and Silas, missionaries
These three early Christian men were missionary companions of the apostle Paul. Timothy became bishop of Ephesus, Titus bishop of Crete, and Silas was imprisoned with Paul at Philippi
until they were delivered by an earthquake.
Tuesday, January 27-Lydia, Dorcas, and Phoebe, witnesses to the faith
Women as well as men were important Christian leaders from the beginning, as demonstrated by
these coworkers of the apostle Paul. Lydia, a seller of purple goods, lent her home for a church;
Dorcas was known for charitable works; and Phoebe was a deacon in the church at Cenchrae.
Wednesday, January 28-Thomas Aquinas, teacher, died 1274
One of the most brilliant and creative theologians in the church's history, Aquinas worked to bring
together scripture and the philosophy of Aristotle. A member of the Order of Preachers
(Dominicans), Aquinas was also a hymnwriter.
