Staff Reorganization News
After a review of Trinity's current organizational structure, the Congregational Council determined that a staff reorganization is
needed. As part of this reorganization,
Council approved the elimination of the
Director for Finance and Administration
position. As a result, Mike Scharff's
employment at Trinity was terminated on
February 20, 2015.
On behalf of myself and the Congregation
Council, we thank Mike for his more than
nine years of service to Trinity. We
encourage you to express your
appreciation to Mike and to join us in
Hyson Hall on Sunday morning,
March 15 as we acknowledge his service
and ministry.
Please keep Mike and Nancy in your
prayers during this time of transition.
Warren Ditzler and Deb Neves
Congregation Co-Presidents
Do you know
how has God
gifted you?
Are you aware
of how those
gifts could be
used in your life - work, family, world,
and church?
At Trinity we want all of our disciples to be
aware of their spiritual gifts in order that
they may better serve God in their daily life
by doing those activities for which they are
gifted. There is nothing worse than to be
asked to do something for which you have
no interest or ability. We are not looking for
warm bodies to fill church slots. We want to
help you discover your unique set of gifts,
and then provide occasions and resources
for you to use those gifts in God's world.
Please complete Trinity's Spiritual Gift
Discovery tool on our website, trinitylansdale.com, in order to discover your gifts and
get connected to the right ministry.
Join us on Sunday, March 15, 9:30 in Social
Hall as we explore the results of your
Spiritual Gifts Discovery. Vicki Seal, Director
for Spiritual Gifts and her team will be there
to help you better understand the results of
your survey.

LENTEN WORLD HUNGER APPEAL
During this Lenten season, the Social
Ministry Committee is encouraging our
congregation to participate in the Lenten
World Hunger Appeal. As caring Christians
our ultimate goal is to end local and world
hunger. You can do your part by using either
one of the special fund envelopes mailed to
your home or an ELCA World Hunger Appeal
envelope to make your donations. Lenten
World Hunger packets are available at the
exits of the sanctuary. Please take one and
read the information inside. In addition
please consider these other ways that you
can make a difference for a hungry world:

Each week of Lent, change to a lowcost simple meal instead of a full meal or
eating out, and use the cost savings as a
donation to this appeal
 Donate canned goods to our monthly
food cupboard drive
 Sponsor our students participating in
their 30 hour famine
 Volunteer at our F.E.A.S.T. program
 Make a dinner for our Code Blue Shelter
 Encourage and support our Sunday
Church School children in their canned
food drive
 Join an advocacy group such as Bread
for the World at www.bread.org
 Find out where the food pantry in your
community is located and get involved
 Remember the hungry and poor in your
prayers
Through our giving and caring, through
our advocacy and action, we can make a
life-saving difference for the hungry. Thank
you for supporting this appeal!
Trinity’s Social Ministry Committee
New Disciples Dinner
Join us for the annual dinner for new
disciples on Sunday, March 22. All
new disciples received within the last
two years are invited along with their
mentors to this dinner in Hyson Hall.
Hor d’oeuvres begin at 5 pm and
dinner begins at 5:30 pm.
Please RSVP by March 6th to Vicki
Seal in the church office at 215-3611710 or vseal@trinitylansdale.com.
YOu are invited!
On Monday, March 9 at 7 pm Trinity’s
Social Ministry Committee invites you to
join us in Room 123 as we welcome
Rev. Bradley Burke, the new executive
director of the Lutheran Charities Appeal. Rev. Burke is a lively and engaging speaker who will bring us stories of
the important work performed by our
local Lutheran social service agencies.
You might already be familiar with some
of these organizations and the good
work they do. Agencies such as
KenCrest, Lutheran Children and Family
Service, Liberty Lutheran, and Martin
Luther School – Silver Springs along
with others, touch the lives of 1 in every
50 people in our region. Collectively
their ministries impact over 100,000
people in our synod. As Lutherans we
should be proud of the work done by
these well respected agencies. Trinity
members can support Lutheran
Charities Appeal through the special
fund envelopes in our monthly packets.
Rev. Burke’s presentation along with a
time for questions will be less than one
hour in length, so please consider joining us for this informative session. If
you have any questions, please call
Lorraine Crosson, 215-997-1012.

Sunday, March 1, 2015-George Herbert, hymnwriter, died 1633
An excellent scholar, Herbert served briefly in the English parliament, then became a parish
priest. He was known for devoted care of his parishioners, as well as for writing poetry and
hymns, including "Come, my way, my truth, my life." He died at age 40.
Monday, March 2-John Wesley, died 1791; Charles Wesley, died 1788; renewers of the
church
These brothers led a revival originally intended to remain within the Church of England, one that
involved frequent communion and advocacy for the poor. Except for a brief time in America, they
worked in England. Charles was also a prolific hymn writer. After their deaths, their work led to
the formation of the Methodist Church.
Saturday, March 7-Perpetua and Felicity and companions, martyrs at Carthage, died 202
Vibia Perpetua was a noblewoman, and Felicity her slave, who were catechumens at Carthage,
northern Africa. They, with four other catechumens, had defied the Roman emperor who had
forbidden conversions to Christianity, and were put to death in the amphitheater.
