The honorable finance minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley in his maiden budget speech on July 2014 said that Indian corporates will mandatory adopt the Indian accounting standards (Ind AS) converged with IFRS by financial year 2016-2017 with an option to voluntarily adopt these standards for financial year 2015-2016. This convergence of Indian Accounting Standards with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and adoption of Income Computation and Disclosure Standards (ICDS or Tax Accounting Standards) for computation of taxable income, both are expected to become a reality for corporates in India in the coming year.
