Public Health Committee
Flying Samaritans at UCSD
What is the Public Health committee?
Vision: To create conscious active
professionals that advocate for health.
Mission: The Public Health Committee under
Flying Samaritans consists of a group of
individuals that promote healthy lifestyles by
means of education and prevention. Through
carefully surveying the progress of the
community we hope to create awareness on
the health conditions that are prevalent in the
Ensenada community.

Table Discussions!
Began with Diabetes: In Mexico, type 2 diabetes is the leading cause of death among adults, according to the 2007
National Death Registry.13 Data from the 2005–2006 cross-sectional Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición
We provide patients with information about diabetes, diabetes management, glucose readings and FREE glucose
machines/monthly test strips* and Glucose Logs. *If recommended by a physician.
Winter Quarter: Addiction
Spring Quarter: Nutrition
Our goal is to get the conversation about health going! Many patients who see us really do care about
their health and tell us how they or their family members have become reflective about what they eat
or about exercising and like to talk about their progress. Others have question or want information to
take to their family members.
