Vision: To create conscious active professionals that advocate for health. Mission: The Public Health Committee under Flying Samaritans consists of a group of individuals that promote healthy lifestyles by means of education and prevention. Through carefully surveying the progress of the community we hope to create awareness on the health conditions that are prevalent in the Ensenada community. 7 of our 14 passionate Public Health Officers Clinics Presentations! Table Discussions! Began with Diabetes: In Mexico, type 2 diabetes is the leading cause of death among adults, according to the 2007 National Death Registry.13 Data from the 2005–2006 cross-sectional Encuesta Nacional de Salud y Nutrición We provide patients with information about diabetes, diabetes management, glucose readings and FREE glucose machines/monthly test strips* and Glucose Logs. *If recommended by a physician. Winter Quarter: Addiction Spring Quarter: Nutrition Our goal is to get the conversation about health going! Many patients who see us really do care about their health and tell us how they or their family members have become reflective about what they eat or about exercising and like to talk about their progress. Others have question or want information to take to their family members. Orphanage -Public Health Day Workshops led by PH officers and volunteers + Activities (tons of learning activities ) LUNCH TIME We prepared snacks/lunch for the children Donations We took clothes, toys, school supplies and hygiene products for the children (Some of them are directly chosen by the kids, other items are given to the orphanage supervisor) How can I help?
