Top-15 Non-Conf Wins
With its wins over No. 13 San Diego State and No.15
Oklahoma, Washington posted two victories over top15 teams in non-conference action for the first time
in program history. Additionally, UW has defeated two
top-25 teams in non-conference action just one other
time under Lorenzo Romar which happened in the
2004-05 season (UW defeated No. 19 Alabama and
No. 22 N.C. State).
Anderson’s Improvement
Senior Mike Anderson is making the most out of his
senior season with the Huskies as he has improved in
nearly every statistical category since last year. Anderson’s upped his 3-point shooting percentage to a teambest 41.5 percent from 28.9 and is averaging 8.0 points
and 5.9 rebounds this season compared to 5.5 and 5.5
a year ago. He has knocked down 22 from 3-point
range this year (22-of-53) after hitting just 11 over
32 games a year ago.
Hot Start Leads to 14-6
The Huskies started the season 11-1 which tied their
best record to begin the year in the Lorenzo Romar
era, which also happened in 2005-06. Prior to the loss
against Stony Brook, UW was one of just eight teams
nationally that was still undefeated. Now, sitting at
14-6, the Huskies are one of 75 teams (out of 345) that
that have six losses or less in the nation.
2014-15 Husky Basketball
Dorsey with the Treys
True freshman Donovan Dorsey hasn’t let playing at
the collegiate level phase him as he knocked down
five three-pointers on the road against San Jose State
en route to a career-high 17 points. Dorsey is the first
freshman since C.J. Wilcox (6 vs. Long Beach State,
Nov. 30, 2010) to post five or more three-pointers. All
but two of his 23 made FGs have been from long
distance, where he’s shooting at a 39.6 clip.
The Williams-Goss File
-Has posted six or more assists 20 times in his career,
including 13 out of 20 games this season
-Has led the team in assists in 34 of his 52 career
games
-Is currently 11th nationally in assists (as of
Jan. 30) averaging 6.2 assists per game ... is on
pace to record 198 assists this season which would
set the UW sophomore record and would rank third
all-time on UW’s single-season list
- He has had two double-doubles in 20 games this
season ... he had just two in 37 games a year ago
- He’s also flirted with a triple double a few times
this year posting 10p/12r/7a against SC State,
21p/7r/12a against LBSU, 9p/6r/11a against Grambling and 19p/8r/9a at Cal, 17p/7r/7a against Stanford ... no player in UW history has ever recorded a
triple double
-His career-high 12 assists vs. Long Beach State
tie for the fifth-most in a single game in UW history ... and are the most since Abdul Gaddy vs. UCLA
(3/3/12) ... NWG is the sixth player under Romar to
post 12 or more assists
-With his 21 points against LBSU, reached 500 career
points in just 37 games, which is the second-fastest
by a player under Lorenzo Romar
-Set the UW freshman single game scoring record
with 32 points against Oregon State last season
(1/25/14)
-Set the UW freshman single season assists record
with 140
-His 140 assists rank tied for eighth on UW’s all-time
single-season list
-Led all Pac-12 freshmen a year ago in scoring (13.8)
and assists (4.4)
-Named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team a year ago
-Is a co-captain alongside Andrew Andrews
-Chose UW over Harvard and is one of four UW student athletes that finished the 2013-14 school year
with over a 3.75 GPA ... double-majoring in psychology and communications
Summer Strength Program
For the first time since Lorenzo Romar arrived at
UW, the entire team stayed for the whole summer
to take part in strength coach Daniel Shapiro’s nineweek strength and conditioning program. The summer workout schedule was five days a week and took
place while the team was taking summer classes.
Following the conclusion of the program, the guys
had three weeks to go home and visit family before
returning to start preseason workouts.
Putting on the LBs
In conjunction with the summer workout program, a
few guys bumped up their weight prior to the season
starting. Junior Jernard Jarreau is now at 245, which
is 25 pounds bigger than he was a year ago and 50
pounds up from when he joined UW in 2011. Also
up on the weight scale is senior Mike Anderson who
jumped from 195 to 205 during the offseason.
a2014-15 Washington Men’s Basketball – Husky Notes
Length, Length, Length
The Huskies top eight rotation (Anderson, Andrews,
NWG, Kemp, Jr., Jarreau, Johnson, Winters and Dorsey) are one of the longer rotations that Coach Romar
has had in his tenure ... the group’s average wingspan
is 4.5 inches longer than their actual height ... notably
Mike Anderson at 6-4 has a 6-11 wingspan and
Jernard Jarreau is 6-10 with a 7-5.5 wingspan.
In the Rankings
Washington was in the top 25 for four-straight weeks
before falling out after the overtime loss at Stanford.
The Huskies have been ranked as high as 13 this season, tying their highest ranking since Nov. 22, 2010
(No. 13), and are 96-37 (72.2 percent) as a ranked
team in the Lorenzo Romar era.
Road Warriors
Starting with the two games at Key Arena, the Huskies
finished a five-game streak of games away from Alaska Airlines Arena. The last time the Dawgs played
just one game at home in the month of November
was the 2004-05 season.
Wooden Legacy Champs
The Huskies went 3-for-3 en route to taking home the
Wooden Legacy Championship over the Thanksgiving
break. Sophomore Nigel Williams-Goss, who was the
tournament’s Most Outstanding Player, set a Wooden
Legacy record for most assists (25) and most assists
in a game (12). The Huskies picked up wins over UTEP
(RPI 27) and Long Beach State (RPI 66).
Backcourt Duo
The Huskies return one of the top backcourt duos in the
Pac-12 this year in co-captains Andrew Andrews and
Nigel Williams-Goss. The pair combined to average
25.6 points a year ago, which ranks second amongst
returning backcourt combos in the league. Only Delon
Wright and Brandon Taylor of Utah averaged more
(26.2). Andrews and NWG are the only two returning
that started in every game last year for their respective
team and they also combined to dish out 6.9 assists
per game.
Sons Of Sonics
Shawn Kemp Jr. is not the first Husky player to come
from NBA lineage -- specifically sons of Seattle Sonics. Through the years, four other Huskies had dads
that spent portions of their NBA careers playing for the
Sonics. Here is a look at the list:

UW Leads Division I With Most
All-Time Wins At Their Home Arena
Washington has 953 wins inside of Hec Edmundson Pavilion, the most by any Division I team at its
current home arena. The Huskies started playing in
their arena on Dec. 27, 1927 and have amassed 126
more victories than No. 2 on the list, Duke (827).
Friendly Confines Of Home
Losing at Alaska Airlines Arena in Hec Edmundson Pavilion is rare under coach Lorenzo Romar’s watch. In 13
years with Romar at the helm, UW is 179-42 (.810)
overall at home, 94-12 (.886) in non-conference
games. The Huskies won a school-record 32 straight
non-conference games at Alaska Airlines Arena, dating back to a 72-71 home loss on March 14, 2008 in
the College Basketball Invitational to Valparaiso, before South Dakota State beat them on Dec. 18, 2011.

Huskies in the NBA
The Huskies have continually produced top level NBA
talent as evidenced by the eight players that are currently playing in the league. Head coach Lorenzo Romar
has had seven first round draft picks since arriving at
UW and most recently saw 2013-14 senior C.J. Wilcox
get taken 28th by the Los Angeles Clippers. UW’s eight
active league players tied for the ninth-most in Division
I and rank third in the Pac-12.
Home Court Face Lift
The winningest home court in Division I will look slightly
different this year as a baseline-to-baseline silhouette
of Seattle’s iconic skyline featuring the Space Needle
right near center court was added. The floor also features a filled-in three-point area matching the wood
tint of the skyline silhouette and updated word marks
along the baselines. Washington, which started playing
in their arena on Dec. 27, 1927, has 947 wins inside of
Alaska Airlines Arena, the most by any Division I team
at its current home arena.

2014-15 Husky Basketball
a2014-15 UW Men’s Basketball – Coach Lorenzo Romar
Coach Lorenzo Romar (13th Yr. at Washington, 19th Yr. Overall)
Just completing his 12th season, Lorenzo Romar has led UW to nine post-season appearances. Romar, the 18th head men’s basketball coach at Washington, has earned
Coach of the Year three times (2012, 2009 & 2005). Romar is the dean of coaching in the
Pac-12 having spent more seasons at UW than any other current coach at their school.
Romar owns a 268-150 (.641) record at Washington and is 361-238 (.603) in 19 seasons overall. The first African-American head basketball coach at UW, Romar is second
all-time in victories at UW and reached 200 wins second fastest. Washington has
won its first two outright conference titles (2012 & 2009) since 1953 under the direction
of Romar. He has led UW to six NCAA tournament Appearances -- all in spurts of threeconsecutive seasons (2004-05-06 & 2009-10-11) -- and the school’s first back-to-back
Sweet 16 appearances (2005 & 06). Overall, he has led Washington to three Sweet 16 appearances. In 2012
he led UW to the semifinals of the NIT, a first in UW history. He was the 2005 Pac-10 and Black Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Romar played point guard for Marv Harshman’s 1979 and 1980 teams and spent
five years in the NBA after college. Prior to UW, Romar served as the head coach at Saint Louis (1999-02) and
Pepperdine (1996-99) and was an assistant coach at UCLA (1992-96). He helped lead the Bruins to the 1995
national title. Romar’s influence extends beyond the college court as he is on the USA Basketball Men’s Junior
National Committee, starting in 2009 and running through 2016. A native of Compton, Calif., he graduated from
Pius X High School. Romar and his wife, Leona, have three daughters: Terra, Tavia and Taylor.
Unprecedented Success Under Romar
The Huskies are enjoying their greatest stretch of success in team history under the direction of Lorenzo Romar.
Besides three Sweet 16 appearances, three Pac-10 tournament championships, two regular-season conference
titles & two NIT appearance -- including the 2012 semifinals -- the numbers show Romar has entered unchartered territory. From 2004-2005 to 2012-13 the Huskies won 208 games, the most ever in a nine-year span of
UW basketball history. He has avg 21.2 wins per season during his 11-year UW career and has amassed four
of the seven largest single-season win totals in UW history. Romar earned his sixth 20-win season in 2012, including a school record four-consecutive seasons, and only trails Hec Edmundson’s 11 seasons with 20+ wins.
