FEBRUARY 1, 2015
My Dear Parishioners,
In today’s second reading (1 Cor.
7, 32-35) St. Paul tells us, “I should like you to be
free of anxieties.” Unfortunately, worries and anxieties are a part of life, and it seems that we are
seldom free of them. Anxiety takes many forms. It
can be a parent worried about the safety of his or
her children. It can be a visit to the doctor’s office
to investigate a suspicious lump. It can be the worry we experience over an aging parent. Whatever
the case, this kind of unease or apprehension is part
and parcel of life.
But sometimes anxiety can be more than simple worry or uneasiness. Sometimes it can take control of
our lives. It can paralyze us. Or it can seriously influence our thoughts or impair our judgment. It is
important for us to remind ourselves that Christ
Jesus calls us away from this debilitating force that
sometimes grips our lives. On one occasion Jesus
said, “Fear is useless; what is needed is
trust.” (Mark 5, 36) True faith in Jesus and trusting in his promises to us helps us to overcome the
power of fear and anxiety in our lives.
We hear about Jesus casting out a demon, an
“unclean spirit” in today’s Gospel passage. In a
sense, anxiety or excessive worry can become a demon in our lives that begins to destroy us spiritually.
At those times, we know that we can turn to Our
Lord, whose power is far greater than any debilitating spirit. We can trust in him to cast out fear and
doubt and worry, to help us to live in the confidence
of the Holy Spirit.
There are many trials that each of us must face in
life. We know that we do not face these difficulties
alone. Jesus has promised to be with us and always
to give his strength and grace, if only we reach out
to him in faith!
Sincerely yours,
Monsignor Radocha

Did you know that our Kindergarten classrooms
are full of love, laughter, and lots of fun stuff?
Since we are a full-day kindergarten, we have extra time to learn and have fun. Every day we

love using so many hands-on manipulatives to
help us learn. When you walk into our classrooms, you will be amazed by all the words you
see. We are learning to read so many new
words! We love working in groups to read together. Our Writing Journals are filling up
quickly with the awesome sentences we are
composing on our own. Centers are another important part of our day. We love moving around
and learning so many things while having fun. In
Science, we have been learning about animals
and their habitats. We are working on individual projects and we can’t wait to share them
with our friends. In Social Studies, we have
learned so many things about being good citizens. We have also traveled to Washington, DC
on our SMART Boards to learn about our Nation’s Capital and various monuments. During
each week, we participate in Gym, Music, Art,
Library, Computers, and Spanish. We are happy
from the moment we walk in the door till the
moment we leave at the end of the day. We
love our school!
