young austria works closely with the German
and Austrian Railways. For many decades
we have brought our camp participants from
around Germany and Austria safely from
A to B. We also offer an airport service in
Munich. More details from page 30. That
requires efficient planning, flexibility and an
excellent team. Markus personally selects
around 100 travel supervisors and trains
them for their travel supervisory task. His
professional background is the optimal prerequisite to complete these important tasks.
Alice is an experienced mountain climber,
qualified sports scientist and alpine instructor. Through her practical and theoretical
competence and personal experience, she
knows exactly what safety is about. Alice
selects all our external sports partners and
checks their equipment, professionalism
with our participants and proofs their permits and insurances. Her attention to detail
is second to none and no one knows more
about sport than she does.
If an applicant shows a sense of responsibility, social competence and has a good
instinct for kids, they will be trained to
become a counsellor at the young austria

young austria Camps
Why us?
INTERNATIONAL –
SAFETY & QUALITY –
Participants from around the world!
At many of our camps, you will see this sign (International Button). This means that camp participants from
around the world are taking part.
In 2014, 2,000 children and youths from more than 40
countries were at our camps. Friendships that span over continents were created. Language skills are benefited, cultural stereotypes are re-arranged and fear of contact is broken down.
An important part of the personal development of young people.
EXPERIENCE & UNDERSTANDING –
60 years and ahead of its time.
For more than 60 years, young austria has intensively
involved itself with trips for children and youths. We don’t see
ourselves as educators, rather we provide the framework to create
personal experiences and wonderful holidays – in a unique and
safe environment in the middle of nature! It is important to us to
offer children and youths the possibility to have informal experiences, overcome athletic challenges, experience the breathtaking
nature and mountain landscape of Austria and to find their own
personality.
We promote talent, motivate, supervise and guide.
4 /// CAMPS 2015 QUALITY OF SUPERVISION –
YOUTH HOTELS –
We leave nothing to chance.
It’s about your child.
Who actually looks after your child?
Family-run and well-equipped!
In Austria, there are no legal pre-requisites how youth travel should
be organised. In order to adapt our quality to the newest insights
into child and youth education, we have decided to follow the German Quality Criteria.
Only at young austria camps will you find a supervisor to child
ratio of 1 to 8. For our younger guests, it’s even 1 supervisor
for 5 children. That means that we can look after the participants individual needs. Unique at summer camps in Austria.
The heart of our camps. The locations are well-run family
operations, which have decades of experience with kids and
work together hand in hand with young austria on the success of the
camps.
Our supervisors are carefully handpicked. Only those who complete the multi-stage selection process, the personal interview and
the extensive training seminar are allowed to work at a young
austria camp.
Always an open ear for questions and of the highest quality. Individual like our participants. The meals are healthy, regional and adapted
to the tastes of our young guests. Special requests for vegetarians or
allergy sufferers are taken into consideration. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and well-equipped. Information on the youth hotels
from page 23.
We are the only Austrian company that
has been checked and certified under the German
Association for Youth Travel, Travel Network e.V.
Member and in the Quality Areas of „Supervised
Child and Youth Travel“ and „Youth Accommodation“. An important indicator of quality youth travel.
We are also the only Austrian youth
travel company to be awarded the „Austrian
Government Honour“. A special award, which so
far only 1,400 companies in the whole of Austria
have received.
In order to be informed about the newest trends in
child and youth camps, we are a member of the
International Camping Fellowship.
We attend congresses, expand our knowledge
and further educate ourselves in diverse workshops.
As a fully-licensed travel agent and registered travel operator we provide professional travel
services from a tourism standpoint.

Intensive English classes during your Easter
Holidays. A super chance to give your English
skills a boost before the end of school. With
professional trainers from the USA, England
or Ireland, we make English an unforgettable
experience in our English Intensive Camp.
Together with language specialists from educom, young austria
offers a camp with intensive English classes in the 2015 Easter
holidays. The Camp counsellors are chosen by educom and all
come from England, Ireland, USA etc. – learning English is on
the program around the clock. Next to learning, action, fun and
outdoor activities are not to be forgotten. The Easter holidays aren’t
just about learning, it’s also about having fun!
Ready, steady, go!
Whether it’s a visit to the thermal baths, tobogganing or during the
candle-lit walk in the snow – English can be learnt anywhere and
everywhere – at the young austria English camp 24 hours a day!
In line with this motto, English is not only spoken in class, but also
during all free time, sport and evening activities. Mother-tongue
trainers from English speaking countries will encourage you to use
the language in all situations. Combining speaking English the
whole day with fun and outdoor activities is guaranteed to make
this holiday camp an unforgettable experience!
6 /// CAMPS 2015 Having fun while learning a language is the number one priority
at the English Intensive Camp: together you will work on projects,
take part in discussions about current topics and work on improving
your grammar. In our speaking workshops, your English skills will
automatically be improved through different activities without any
pressure or stress. See for yourself!
There are also two lessons in the afternoon. But after that an exciting freetime program – all in English of course: whether it’s Team
Building games, creative work, Easter Egg Hunt, tobogganing or
swimming – the beautifully located Carinth Guest House offers the
perfect setting for all activities. The Evening Program on the camp
grounds is also a highlight: next to lots of indoor and outdoor
games, you will take a candle-lit walk in the snow, sing Karaoke in
English and dance until you drop at the disco night.
All English teachers and counsellors
are trained from the experienced
language school „educom“ – a reliable indicator of the success at the
English camp!
The educom language courses are based on the „Common European Framework of Reference for Languages“. Referred to as the
CEF Framework, this standard is recognized throughout Europe as
the guide for all language levels. It allows the knowledge in each
of the language skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading) to
be classified.

At Riding Camp „Gipsy“ your riding dreams
will come true! For one whole week everything
is about your favourite animal.
In the morning it’s straight to the riding school, where you will learn
everything from keeping horses to proper animal training „from foal
to riding horse”. Next to grooming, bridling and saddling, you will
learn more about the correct equipment – a perfect riding experience is guaranteed!
Well-equipped for more highlights
After your experiences at the riding school you will return to the
ya! youth hotel and even there everything is about horses. The two
house ponies „Gipsy and Sabrina” are looking forward to petting
sessions. For those who want to be more active, the sports hall, fun
court, beach volleyball court or bicycles (free of charge) can be
used. Our riding camp counsellors are there around the clock. They
will ensure that everything runs perfectly and will organize additional activities from creative horseshoe designing to horse quizzes.
And after the Simonyhof Barbecue Night, exciting stories will be
shared around the camp fire.
Close Experiences
In small groups you will be integrated in to the daily life at the
stables. Your help is needed to:
yy Feed the horses
yy Groom the horses
yy Clean the stalls
yy And afterwards it’s time to saddle up!
Beginners are welcome
During the 6 days, you will enjoy 2 units of pure riding pleasure –
we always take your riding experience into consideration! Whether
free riding on the riding grounds or riding outdoors for the advanced riders, the important thing is that no previous experience is
necessary at riding camp „Gipsy”, as the program is designed for
beginners as well as riding pros.

Bioelectric Impedance Assessment (BIA)
What sounds complicated is actually a completely painless measurement to show what constitutes your body. The BIA measures
the percentage of water, fat and muscle mass in your body. The
measurement is done by sending short, unnoticeable electrical
impulses through the body using four electrodes. It measures the
cell resistance, which states how high the percentage of muscle
mass is. It also measures the water resistance, which reveals how
much water and fat is stored in the body. Lose weight – the smart
way! With the aid of the results, it is possible to see how your body
changes during the camp. We can guarantee you one thing: you
will be amazed what we can achieve together in two weeks.

At the Sonnenhof there is a lot of heart and
real passion. The traditional hotel at the
Sonnberg is the only ya! adventure guesthouse
in Maria Alm and is lovingly run by the third

groups have been coming here. From the beginning young austria has been working with

has many groups that come back each year
– not only because of the stunning mountain
panorama. Next to the unique view of the

there is also the caring family attitude and the
constant good mood of the Herzogs and their

Frequently Asked
Questions – FAQ s
Here we try to provide you with helpful answers to your questions. Should you have any further questions, please do not
hesitate to contact us!
young austria supervisors
The children and teenagers are supervised by the young austria team of
supervisors. They are mainly students of sport, education and psychology as
well as fully trained and prospective teachers. All ya! supervisors take part
in a training course to prepare them professionally and extensively for the
work at the summer camps. The completion of training courses in first aid,
legal issues, planning and organisation are prerequisites for being accepted
to work. As a matter of course, a criminal record check is carried out on all
supervisors.
The supervision and care of minors is our imperative. Participants under the
age of 18 are only allowed to leave the grounds of the camp with the permission of the camp facilitators at certain times only and exclusively in small
groups. Please inform your child of this in advance.
the children. Please note that the collecting of mobile phones depends on the
camp leader and may vary from camp to camp. Laptops, playstations, gameboys and other such devices should stay at home! The possession of dangerous
objects such as pocket knives is of course forbidden!
Valuables, pocket money and important documents
Our team of supervisors deal with pocket money and documents belonging
to the participants. Please make sure that the documents for safekeeping are
placed in the allocated envelopes. These envelopes will be provided with
the travel documents. Should the documents not arrive by post, please use
another envelope and ensure that it is clearly marked with the name of your
child. Participants are given part payments of pocket money at allocated
times. Any personal items that are not handed in for safekeeping are the
responsibility of the child. We also recommend labelling any items of value
with your child’s name.
Passport
We recommend that all Austrians and any citizen of an EU Schengen state
has at least a copy of their passport / identity card with them. Children from
other countries should carry the original of their passport with them. Please
find out in advance of making a booking regarding the particular travel
conditions such as visa requirements from the country of origin.
24h Hotline
In an emergency, young austria can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a
week during the summer camps. Please only use this telephone number in
emergencies so that the lines are not unnecessarily engaged. The number will
be provided on the travel documents before departure.
Insurances
Emergency card
The information entered in the emergency card is vital for your child’s supervisor. This information is extremely important and will of course be handled
with discretion. Further information is available at the time of booking as well
as on the travel documents. Please give the fully completed form to your child
to bring on camp. Information should be given as to any allergies (e.g. food
allergies), medical conditions and details of medication at the time of booking! Please note that our supervisors can only administer medication that has
been entered on the emergency card (name, dosage). Our supervisors are
not allowed to give out any other medicine to the participants. In order to enable medical treatment by a doctor in case of illness or accident, the following guidelines are in place:
yy Children from Austria require an E-card or Social Security (SV) card.
yy Children from EU states require a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
yy We recommend that children from other countries take out medical insurance with the European Insurance Agency (please see below).
Vaccinations
Please consult your family doctor regarding necessary vaccinations and enter
this information on the emergency card.
Contacting your child
The best time to contact your child is between 6.30 pm and 7.30 pm – after
the evening meal. Please be aware that frequent phone calls can provoke
homesickness, especially in younger participants.
Pocket Money
We recommend an amount of approximately € 20,– per week – the participants spend pocket money on souvenirs, postcards, ice cream and extra
drinks etc.
Supplementary offers
It is possible to book extra optional activities for your child, such as rafting,
high rope courses, overnight stays in a mountain lodge etc.
The additional optional activities are provided by professional licensed sport
and outdoor activity organisers. It will be decided on site which programme
will run (availability is dependent on the number of potential participants)
Please note that the extra activities vary according to the camp. Two weeks
before the camp starts, you will receive the travel documents from us, which
will include a list of the possible extra activities on offer. Please tick the
chosen extra activities of interest on the list and confirm with your signature.
Please give this form to your child to bring to camp – it will also serve as written consent. Please also give the corresponding fees to your child to bring
with them.
Mobile phones and other troublesome items
To keep a „radiation-free“ atmosphere in our camps, the participants’ mobile
phones may be collected at the beginning of the camp. Every day at „mobiletimes“ (after dinner between 6 pm and 8 pm) the phones will be handed out to

Full-board
In the ya! youth hotels we set high value on well balanced, healthy and tasty
food. On our menus you will find mainly local dishes where we emphasize
regional products. A typical menu of the day contains: extended breakfast, a
2-course lunch and a 3-course dinner. Of course we don’t miss out the salad
which is mainly served in buffet style.

The travel documents will be sent out approximately two weeks before the
start of camp. Should these not arrive in time, please contact us.
Visits from family members, relatives and friends
Our experience in the past has clearly shown that visits from parents and
relatives in many cases can intensify homesickness. However, if you wish to
pick up your child from the camp for an important appointment, we request
that you notify the ya! office in Salzburg in advance. In addition, written
confirmation is required from the parent / relative / friend. „Welcome to Austria“: Medical insurance especially for children

Removal from camp
Our team of supervisors and management are not to be held responsible
for any possible disorderly or forbidden behaviour of the participants. A
participant may be removed from camp due to contagious or serious illness
or injury that prevents the participant from partaking in the daily program
and in the case of indecent behaviour, punishable actions or other behaviour
for which the supervisor cannot accept responsibility. When a participant is
removed from camp, the child must be collected immediately by a parent or
guardian at their own expense or arranged accordingly. No refund of camps
costs will be made.
Clothing
We will send you a packing list together with the travel documents. We
recommend casual sports clothing, waterproofs, comfortable shoes, slippers
and pullovers (also one for cooler days). Please label all items of clothing
with your child’s name.
Should you decide to take out another insurance policy, please be aware
that in the case of illness or accident, our team of supervisors cannot contact
the insurance company before consulting a doctor or hospital, to ensure your
child receives the fastest medical attention possible. Parents will be informed
immediately (after emergency treatment is given) and can then clarify any
further steps with their insurance company.
If a direct cash payment is not required at the location, then the medical bill
from the doctor or hospital will be sent in due course. Please pay the outstanding bill and send the original bill along with a claim form and damages
report including all necessary paperwork to the insurance company.
Camp rules
yy Smoking and the drinking of alcohol are strictly forbidden for all participants.
yy Children are not allowed to leave the camp grounds on their own.
yy Rooms must be kept clean and tidy.
yy Non-aggressive behaviour, respect and consideration are expected from
all members of the camp.

summer camp.
On the day of departure, your child will be brought to the airport
and according to their time of departure, they will be accompanied
to the check-in desk / passport control. If there is waiting time at
the airport, your child will of course be accompanied. Please be aware that the camp ends after breakfast at departure

by the Association of Austrian Travel
Agencies (ARB 1992). In addition to, or in
deviation from, the conditions of the Association of Austrian Travel Agencies, the
following terms apply:

A booking is binding for us as soon as we receive
the signed registration form or the online booking.
You will receive a confirmation of enrolment along
with the payment dates and an insurance form of
our company. The first payment in the amount of
10% is due within two weeks. The final payment
of the remaining balance is due three weeks

We will send you the travel documents after
receipt of the final payment. Unfortunately, we
cannot hold a place in our camps for your child if

of camp in the form of a bank receipt, dispatch of
the transacted payment, or the actual transference
of funds. A reservation fee of € 15,– is charged
for each booking.
2. Minimum number of participants
If we are forced to call off the holiday for
unforseen reasons (for example, if the minimum
number of 20 camp participants, or 12 for
train transport is not reached), we are unable to
provide neither substitute services nor compensation. However, in such cases you will receive the
deposit back. RSV reserves the right of cancellation for up to six weeks prior to the start of the
holiday. RSV will not cancel holidays later than 6

injury or damage to a traveller due to the fault of

RSV reserves the right to make price changes
which are caused by circumstances beyond
their sphere of influence, misprints and calculation errors. (Cancellation clauses according to
point 7.2, ARB 1992). We reserve the right to
make changes and / or substitutions in program
content.

responsible for possible illegal acts or prohibited
substances in the possession of the camp participant. In the event of such a case, responsibility
is not taken over by the counsellors and / or the

which the counsellors cannot assume responsibility. No restitution of travel costs can be made as a
result the expulsion of a camp participant.

prior the agreed end of the camp, the final
payment is due 3 weeks before the camp starts.

bus and rail travel included in the tour packages.
These services are organized independently by
the transportation agencies solely at their own
