The Hong Kong Internship Program: A Unique Experience
Dear Students:
The Hong Kong America Center will organize a unique internship and cultural
exchange program in Hong Kong for the summer of 2015. Supported by the Ford
Foundation, we will offer American students a unique opportunity to get to know Chinese
students in a shared residence, and possibly also in companies and other institutions in
Hong Kong. Ford Foundation support allows us to offer this program at a relatively low
cost of US$1950.
Students will travel at their own expense to Hong Kong. After a three-day
orientation program (including a one-day Macau retreat) arranged by the Hong Kong
America Center, each American student will be assigned to work for about eight weeks as
an intern in companies or other organizations in Hong Kong, many of which will also
feature Chinese interns. We will make every effort to match student interests and
company needs, but students also should be prepared to be flexible. All American students
will reside in a dormitory on a college campus where there will also be Chinese students in
residence. Our Center will organize cultural activities, including excursions to places of
interest in Hong Kong for both American and Chinese students, to help facilitate crosscultural communications. At the end of the summer, we will organize a concluding session
to evaluate participants’ experience.
If you think this program might be for you, please send your resume, transcript
(unofficial is acceptable), and Skype ID and contact Ms. Vivian Chiu at
vivianchiu@eservices.cuhk.edu.hk right away. We can place only a limited number of
students for the summer of 2015. The deadline, March 2nd, is fast-approaching! Both
graduate and undergraduate students are eligible.
