Happy New Year!! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas

Happy New Year!!
I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and New Year
holiday. We are getting stuck in a little earlier than previous
years as we have our BOP@Heart Heartstopper in about
seven weeks, eeeck!! So far we have 4 teams entered online
and donations online are just over $1000. Please share with
all your friends and families and see if you can’t encourage
more people to either participate in this fantastic memorable
fundraiser or to go online and donate to one of the teams/
participants. We need your help to make this a great big
fundraising event, we can not do this alone. Even having
your presence on the day would be greatly appreciated aswell.
The more heart families the better.
As some of you maybe aware one of our Heart Adults sadly
got her wings last year, Jesse Kimber-Gibbs. Jesse’s wonderful family are coordinating a fundraiser in her
memory to raise money for Bay Of Plenty @Heart. Please check out the details in this newsletter, and if
possible show your support by sharing or attending this event.
Please think about Mufti Day’s at your school, if BOP@Heart could be the recipient of a couple of these this
year we would really appreciate it. Every dollar counts and for us to continue to support our members we
need to keep the funds coming in. Again we are putting up our hands for help. If you would like some
assistance with a presentation to help raise awareness of CHD and BOP@Heart at your schools then please
let us know, we are happy to help.
After Heartstopper we have our JUMP JAM fundraiser, if your school does JUMP JAM please encourage
them to take part in this as this is such a great awareness event for school kids to learn a little about CHD
and BOP@Heart.
Thank you to our families who attended our Christmas Party at the Mount Surf Club in December. It was a
great morning had by all and from what I understand all of the children really liked receiving their own BOP
@Heart T shirts. Should you wish to order one for other family members or friends please email me, the
shirts are $20 per child and $25 per adult. Once I have an order of 20 shirts I can send it off to be printed.
Social media is our friend, therefore if you are on Facebook and are not already friends with “BOP AtHeart”
please search us out. This is a great way to keep up to date with what is going on and then you can also share
any public events with your friends too.
Please note that we send our family day invites and newsletters out to families by email from Mail Chimp
and if you have not seen it please do check your spam / junk folders on occasion, as they can hide themselves
there sometimes. We still post to some families who do not have email. Please ensure to keep us up to date
with any changes to your contact details. We have a few families that we can not find as their details are not
current.
Thank you so much to my fellow committee members Janine, Debbie, Alicia, Ang and Alisha for your efforts
last year and especially guiding me through my first year as Chairperson. Lastly, this is a committee call
out. Our committee is now down to 5 volunteers and ideally we would like a few more and as the old saying
goes ’many hands make light work’. If you would like to help support our BOP@Heart Committee. Please
contact me if you are interested.
Good luck to all our families for 2014 and I hope the school year kicks off without a hitch.
Kindest regards
Rachael Parkes - BOP@Heart Chairperson
