‘Happy Hookers’ Crochet Group
_______Mondays 1:00pm– 3:00pm_______
“This group was formed within the first few months
of the MMMC opening and has been growing since
then; we now have a membership of 24. though we
all work on our own projects at times, and assist
those ‘newbies’ to the crochet world, a good deal
of our time is spent creating lap robes, baby
things and other items which, on a twice-yearly
basis, we collect and donate to three of our charities: Ronald McDonald House, Casa Esperanza and
the VA hospital, especially for the wheel-chair
bound veterans. Donations of yarn are always welcome and put to good use by our members who
work on these projects. If you have yarn you wish
to donate to our cause, please leave them with
someone at the main desk– your donations are
always appreciated!”

A Message
From the
Manager
Suggestion Box &
Comments
We are very happy to
announce that we have a
new Center
Supervisor. Her name is
Natasha Montoya and she
comes to us from Palo Duro Senior
Center. Natasha has extensive experience as
a Program coordinator and has also worked
before at North Domingo Baca, so she
understands the Multi-Generational
concept. Many of you have asked for certain
trips and presentations here at Manzano and
for a time since we did not have this position
filled, it was a little difficult to grant those
requests. Having a Center Supervisor with
experience will definitely assist us in having
more activities, trips, presentations and will
make the center whole again as far as staffing
levels. Natasha has a lot of responsibilities
here and she will be ready to hit the ground
running. We are very excited to have her on
board. If you would like, stop by her office and
say hello. Have a great month!
Ed Nunez
Manager
New Employee:
Natasha Montoya
Hello! My name is Natasha Montoya, and I am
looking forward to joining
the Manzano Mesa team
and community as the
Center Supervisor! Just a
little about myself… I am
an Albuquerque native
with an adventurous spirit having lived in
NYC and abroad. I love to travel, enjoy art &
design, spending time with my family which
includes my two little doggies, and appreciate
a good green chili cheese burger. I come to
you with 10 year of experience working with
youth, seniors and families. I am eager to
meet and work with all of you. Please come
by and say hello. I cannot wait to hear your
ideas on how to make our center even better!
Natasha Montoya

Every Wednesday, which is the early dismissal
day for the kids, they put together creative art
projects for the kids.
Their latest project is to have the children sew
blankets for the puppies and kittens at the Animal
Humane Center. Not only are the children
learning sewing skills they are being given the
opportunity to learn compassion. The project will
end with a field trip to Animal Humane to give the
blankets to the animals in the shelter.
