But He was wounded for our transgressions, he was
bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our

Did You Know?
President’s Day never falls on the actual birthday
of any American president. Four chief executives—
George Washington, William Henry Harrison, Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan were born in February, but
their birthdays all come either
too early or late to coincide
with Presidents’ Day, which is
always celebrated on the third
Monday of the month.
PRESIDENTS’ DAY: ORIGIN AS WASHINGTON’S
BIRTHDAY
The story of Presidents’ Day date begins in 1800. Following President George Washington’s death in 1799, his February 22 birthday
became a perennial day of remembrance. At the time, Washington
was venerated as the most important figure in American history, and
events like the 1832 centennial of his birth and the start of construction of the Washington Monument in 1848 were cause for national
celebration.
While Washington’s Birthday was an unofficial observance for most
of the 1800s, it was not until the late 1870s that it became a federal
holiday. Senator Steven Wallace Dorsey of Arkansas was the first
to propose the measure, and in 1879 President Rutherford B. Hayes
signed it into law. The holiday initially only applied to the District
of Columbia, but in 1885 it was expanded to the whole country. At
the time, Washington’s Birthday joined four other nationally recognized federal bank holidays—Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Independence Day and Thanksgiving—and was the first to celebrate the
life of an individual American. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, signed into
law in 1983, would be the second.
I Love Christian House of Prayer
Hello! My name is Blessing Bolei from Delta State, Nigeria. I am currently an international
student of Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. I was very privileged to visit your
ministry during the Watch Night Service with a spiritual family who are former members of
your “GREAT” ministry. This was my first time attending your ministry and I wanted to take the
opportunity to share highlights of my experience.
In this era, watch night service (New Year’s Eve Service), from my perspective seem very predictable; therefore, to be honest, I was not expecting so much from the service. But God in His
infinite wisdom exceeded my expectations. Some life changing aspects of the service that stood
out to me are outlined below:
First, allow me to edify the praise / worship team and the choir. During this portion of the service I was elated that the singers were not just singing but were ministering with the anointing.
I observed how the songs ministered to them first and then ignited the congregation. I was not
familiar with some of the songs, but I was able to flow with the Spirit of God through the music
because it came forth with so much power.
Secondly, the Bishop moved my heart in humility by giving up his pulpit to a youth member
who shared the Word. He believed that all God wanted his congregation to know was in the testament of the young adult. I think this kind of humility is uncommon and really showed that “It
is truly all about God”.
Finally, The Watch Night service was awesome. The various dance performances were beautiful. You could really feel the unity which indicated
to me clearly God’s indwelling power in this ministry. The confession
of faith was sooooooo powerful. I love the Christian House of Prayer
Ministry and just wanted to take the time to say so. Thank you all for the
awesome and spirit of excellence experience.
Happy New Year,
Blessing L. Bolei
