The Bible is one of
the best places to
find Valentine's Day
quotes about love.
Love is mentioned
frequently in the Bible
and a special verse
can be a wonderful
way to show some
love this Valentine's
Day. Simply choose
your favorite Bible
quote and write it in
all your Valentine's
Day cards. A simple
Bible love quote will
brighten anyone's day
this February 14th.
♥ “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but
with actions and truth.” (1 John 3:18)
♥ “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But
the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
♥ “Dear friends, let us love one another for love comes from
God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows
God.” (1 John 4:7)
♥ “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them
all together in perfect unity.” (Colossians 3:14)
♥ “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have
not love, I am only a resounding gong or clanging cymbal.”
(1 Corinthians 13:1)
♥ “And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured
out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he
has given us.” (Romans 5:5)
♥ “Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, is not
pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek
its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood
over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices
with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes
all things, endures all things.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
♥ “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the
desires of your heart.” (Psalms 37:4)
♥ “And we know that in all things God works for the good
of those who love him, who have been called according to
his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)
♥ “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another,
God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

Your Church Supports Students Training For Ministry
We want to encourage young people from our congregation to serve the Lord and His Church as
pastors and teachers. To that end a scholarship program has been established which provides
70% of undergraduate tuition for any member of OSL preparing for church work at one of our
synodical colleges or universities. 20% of the tuition repayment is awarded to the student after
each of their first five years in ministry in a congregation of the LCMS. The congregation also
provides 70% of tuition costs for students attending a Missouri Synod Seminary to go into pastoral
ministry, of which we have had 4 to date. Over the past 22 years we have awarded 24 students
over $606,000 to make it possible for them to serve our Lord Jesus and teach or preach His
precious Gospel. All of us can be proud of these young people and the role which our church has
played in helping to make their ministries possible.
If you are considering entering professional church work contact Loretta in the Church Office for
the details of our scholarship support program.

Men Alive Annual Retreat
PEP Trip
“Hell-bound — But for Grace,” a review of the
theology of hell and application in our daily lives
is the topic for this year’s annual retreat for the
Men Alive Bible Study Group. It is the weekend
of February 4, 5, 6, beginning at 7:00pm on
Friday, and ending at 11:00am on Sunday, at the
Kaiserhof Lutheran Retreat Center in Tomball.
ALL OSL MEN ARE INVITED.
On February 4th, the PEP Group will go to
Danevang, which is the Danish Capital of Texas,
to take the Tour of Danevang Heritage Museum
& Pioneer House. Coffee and cookies will be
served.
The retreat consists of Bible study on Saturday
with a mixture of competitive games such as a
ping-pong tournament, skeet shooting, cards,
dominoes, etc. Enjoy a fajita dinner and campfire
skits and songs on Saturday evening. The cost
is $65.00 for the weekend, and Saturday only
is $35.00.
We will be stopping for lunch before taking
the tour.
Bible study, fun, food, fellowship...
a great opportunity to get to know your fellow
OSL members. Contact Ben Schoppe at 713-8585701 or stscpa@aol.com, or Channing Wood

Jr. CIA Service Project
Lutheran World Relief:
The Jr. CIA will be putting together care
packages for the homeless. These bags can
include anything non-perishable such as
crackers, peanuts, tooth brush, tooth paste,
chap stick, kleenex, bottled water, etc. The kids
will also be putting cards with Bible verses and
prayers in the bags. The bags will be available
to anyone who would like to take them in the
Narthex. This is an alternative to giving money
which many people feel uncomfortable doing.
To Others Through Others
The kids will put these bags together as supplies
are gathered. If you would like to donate any
items you think would be beneficial, please drop
them off at the church office or give them to Jeff
Armstrong or Dean Mushinski.
This will be an on-going
service project that the
Jr. CIA will be doing.
Look for the bags and
please take one and
share it with someone.
People who must flee their homes quickly often
do not have time to pack essential items. LWR
health kits can help children, men, and women
who are refugees maintain personal hygiene
while living in exile. Items may also contribute
to a new start for those who can return home. All
items should be new and in good condition.
Items needed: bath-size bar of soap (any brand
in original wrapping); adult-size toothbrush
(in original packaging); 5-7 oz. squeeze-tube of
toothpaste (long shelf life).
Thank you!

Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year to all the Ladies of the Circles. I am
looking forward to getting started on the New Year of
LWML at Our Savior.
Our first meeting will be on February 26th, at 10:00 am, in
Pastor White’s Bible Class Room. All ladies of the Circles
and congregation are welcome to attend. Attendance at last
year’s meetings grew with each one and we even had some
new members, and I would like to thank all that came and
helped support Cheerful Helpers. Thanks to our Turkey
Dinner Committee, Deanie Stephens and Mildred Holeman,
and all those who were a part of the cooking, serving, cleaning,
ticket selling, etc. We had a successful dinner. The Craft Show
was a first for Ellie Trojacek and she did a great job!
I want to thank everyone who helped with preparing the careboxes for our military, and getting the donations so it could
be possible for us to send 26 boxes to church members and
friends/family of our church members that are in the military
serving in Afghanistan, Iraq or other locations. God’s love
and work were surely being done that day.
I would also like to thank the Dorcas Circle and Gladys Kunkel for the FUN she
created for us at the Cheerful Helpers Christmas party. She made everyone get involved and a
good time was had by all that attended. I also would like to thank Potter’s Vessel for the tasty food.
The “Nativity Program” was narrated by Linda and Heidi Gerke. I would like to thank Carolyn
Mitschke, Sharon Edwards, and Martha Glammeyer for helping with the table decorations.
JOB WELL DONE BY ALL YOU LADIES! In lieu of the gift exchange to each other, we gave
donations to the Crisis Pregnancy Center.
As we prepare to serve in 2011, our newly elected treasurer
Ann Putman, new secretary Heidi Gerke, Ellie Trojacek, and
myself look forward to being servants of the Lord and carry
on his love and fellowship to all our sisters in the faith and to
Our Savior Lutheran.
Blessings to All!

Letters —
Sandy & OSL Ladies,
I just wanted to let you know that the boxes
came! I just finished a brownie.... oh wow,
please tell everyone thank you for us. This stuff
is actually going (okay, minus a brownie and
a few cookies - I missed dinner) to a group of
soldiers here who needs it probably more than
any other, and it is happening in two days. The
guys here have been out in the boonies with us
for almost a year, mostly forgotten, and I finally
have enough stuff to hold a little party for them.
These boxes were a Godsend.
Thank the ladies for all their efforts, please. I’m
going to send a card, but it may take a while to get
there. In the meantime, rest assured that these
items will be much appreciated and enjoyed.
Thank you,
Duane Mowrer
(Sandy Fritsche’s brother)
I wanted to send a special thanks for my Elder,
Dr. Wallace Kleb, for his kind words and visits
after my surgery in December. He picked up
my offering and left the bulletins and Portals of
Prayer. I’m sure Dr. Kleb will someday dear the
words: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Sincerely,
Linda H. Donovan
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all
of your generous donations and support! This
is all just overwhelming for me. We are around
half way there and appreciate all everyone did
to make our BBQ Benefit happen. God bless
you all!!!
Thank you to everyone for the cards and prayers
during my recent illness, surgery and recovery. I
certainly felt the power of prayer. Pastor White’s
prayers before and after surgery were perfect.
I am blessed to be a part of the Our Savior
family.
