A
s President of your HOA, I want
to wish everyone a Happy New
Year and God's Blessings on all you
do. We need more members to be
able to vote on important matters
that pertain to us all. At only $15.00
per dues, anyone can spare $1.25 a
month. Please join the HOA and help
us reach our goal of over 200 members. As next month is election of
board members, we need more to run
for the board of directors and give
their ideas on how we can make
Vista even better.
The new manager is eager to
meet everyone. Leslie is her name
and I enjoy working with her; she has
good ideas. You need to stop by the
office and meet her so she feels welcome. A lot of concerns are being
looked into, and you will be able to
see your HOA and Vista is working
together as a team.
Watch the Vistonian and bulletin boards for upcoming events.
Many shows are scheduled and there
will be some free tickets if you get
three or five new members to join.
Receive one ticket for every three new
members and 2 tickets for every five
new members. Hope to see you all
in February for the elections. Thank
you. À

Recipe
of the Month
British Trifle
O
By Irene Ferguson
ur American and Canadian
friends all love this dessert dish
and have asked for the recipe-so here
it is. Not so much a recipe as a guideline to making a range of dishes that
can all be described as "Trifles".
These quantities are sufficient for a
bowl or dish - usually glass - that
holds a minimum of 8 cups - or you
can use 8 individual glasses.
The basic structure is as follows:
Sponge cake or similar for base
4 cups of Jello
Fresh or tinned fruit
3 cups of Custard or Blancmange
(You can substitute a sweet sauce
made with Corn Starch if Custard/
Blancmange Powder is unavailable)
Heavy whipping cream or
Reddiwhip
There are many variations in flavors - my own favorite is STRAWBERRY TRIFLE:
1. Cover the base of the dish with a
layer of sponge cake. (I either make a
small sponge - 1/3 of a packet or slices
of slightly stale sliced Angel Cake or I
use about 6 plain cup cakes).
2. In another bowl make up two
packets of Strawberry Jello according to instructions - 2 cups of boiling water, stir 2 minutes until completely dissolved and then add two
cups cold water. Leave to cool and
begin to thicken.
3. Spoon the liquid Jello over the
sponge, lay approx. 4 ounces of
strawberries on the sponge and then
pour in the rest of the Jello. Refrigerate until firm.
4. Make up the Blancmange or if
unavailable make Sweet White
Sauce.

3 cups milk; 5 tbsp corn starch; ½
cup sugar; 1 tsp vanilla. Bring 1-1/2
cups of milk to a boiling point. Slowly
add dry ingredients that have been
blended into a paste with ½ cup of
milk. Blend slowly while bringing
back to a boil and cook until thickened but still pourable (add more flour
and milk to thicken it, if necessary).
Add vanilla or add strawberry essence
and pink coloring if available. Let the
sauce cook down - put cling wrap on
surface to prevent skin forming.
When almost cold, spoon over the Jello
and fruit. Leave to set firm.
5. Whip 2 cups of heavy cream or
use Reddiwhip on top of the sauce
and decorate with remaining strawberries.
OTHER VARIATION
English Sherry Trifle: As above but
spoon ½ cup sherry over sponge base
before using Jell0 - do not use any
fruit - use custard made thicker with
extra powder and sprinkle cream
with red cake sugar topping.
Chocolate Trifle: Use chocolate
sponge, orange Jello with tinned
mandarin orange slices, chocolate
sauce and flakes of chocolate with
orange slices over the cream.
… any flavor combination you like
can count as a Trifle!!! À

GATE ACCESS
Vendors, contractors, landscapers,
caretakers and other service providers must obtain gate access from the
resident receiving the service.
The resident may provide access by
any of the following means:
1.) The resident may give the service
provider their three digit gate code.
The provider can call the resident on
the Sentex machine next to the gate
building by dialing the # key and the
resident's three digit code. When the
resident answers the phone and
pushes the number 9, the gate will
open.
If you do not have a gate code,
contact the Clubhouse at 407-2397901.
2.) The resident may give permission for gate access to the provider
by:
• faxing the Clubhouse at 407239-8485.
• e m a i l i n g
clubvista@vistadellago.net
• calling the gate building 407947-3109. Please note that calls for
access may not be made more than
24 hours prior to service.
Vistonian
Gate access permission must include
the resident's name, Vista address,
phone number, name of the service
provider/company, type of service
and date access is needed.
Pursuant to a new community rule,
residents who improperly loan gate
access cards or decals to non-residents will be considered in violation
of this rule, which may result in deactivation of all current gate cards/
decals, and be subject to reactivation
fees.
Reminders: Cards may be used in
either lane and can be read from 18
inches away. The cards do not have
to be placed on or close to the reader.
Some windows with tinting and
some glass made from certain materials may prevent cards from being
read without rolling the window
down. If you have a problem with
your card or decal, please come to
the Clubhouse and we will assist you.
You may purchase new cards and
decals at the Clubhouse Monday
through Friday from 10:00 am - 4:00

with garbage or trash. Grass and
yard waste are to be contained in a
secured plastic bag, limbs are to be
no longer than 3 ft. and tied in
bundles and placed at a designated
Vista del Lago

picked up if it is in cans, containers
or longer than 3 ft. bundles.
Yard waste that is in excess of 3 ft.,
or is not bundled and tied (including palm fronds & tree branches); or
items weighing more than 50 lbs.
will be tagged and not picked up until
the situation is corrected. Yard waste
is required to be placed at curbside
prior to 6:00 am on Wednesday
mornings.
We appreciate your cooperation and
if you have any problems, please call
Waste Services at 407-261-5000.

exterior painting, landscaping
changes, driveway extension, lawn
replacement, storage sheds, patio or
screen enclosure additions, roofs or
other exterior renovations are included. You must submit an application and obtain written approval
prior to starting the changes. Come
