Psalm 22:23-31
Praise the LORD, you that fear him; *
stand in awe of him, O offspring of Israel;
all you of Jacob's line, give glory.
For he does not despise nor abhor
the poor in their poverty;
neither does he hide his face from them; *
but when they cry to him he hears them.
My praise is of him in the great assembly; *
I will perform my vows in the presence of those
who worship him.
The poor shall eat and be satisfied,
and those who seek the LORD shall praise him: *
"May your heart live for ever!"
All the ends of the earth shall remember
and turn to the LORD, *
and all the families of the nations
shall bow before him.
For kingship belongs to the LORD; *
he rules over the nations.
To him alone all who sleep in the earth
bow down in worship; *
all who go down to the dust fall before him.
My soul shall live for him;
my descendants shall serve him; *
they shall be known as the LORD'S for ever.
They shall come and make known
to a people yet unborn *
the saving deeds that he has done.
Romans 4:13-25
Response: Thanks be to God.
Hymn 455
O Love of God, how strong and true
Mark 8:31-38

Second response: Praise to you, Lord Christ.
Sermon
The Rev. Jason Wells
Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that
is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only
Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God
from true God, begotten, not made, of one
Being with the Father. Through him all
things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate
from the Virgin Mary, and was made man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius
Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On
the third day he rose again in accordance
with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have
no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the
giver of life, who proceeds from the Father
and the Son. With the Father and the Son he
is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken
through the Prophets. We believe in one holy
catholic and apostolic Church. We
acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness
of sins. We look for the resurrection of the
dead, and the life of the world to come.
Amen.
Prayers of the People
Let us pray to the Lord. Lord, have mercy.
In the communion of saints, let us commend
ourselves, and one another, and all our life, to
Christ our God. To you, O Lord our God.
Confession of Sin
Let us confess our sins to God.
God of all mercy,
we confess that we have sinned against you,
opposing your will in our lives.
We have denied your goodness in each other,
in yourselves, and in the world you have created.
We repent of the evil that enslaves us,
the evil we have done,
and the evil done on our behalf.
Forgive, restore and strengthen us
through our Savior Jesus Christ,
that we may abide in your love
and serve only your will. Amen.
Peace
The peace of the Lord be always with you.
And also with you.
Offertory
Hymn 675
Take up your cross, the Savior said
Eucharistic Prayer
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
Breaking of the Bread
Hymnal S-164
(8am) Lamb of God, you take away the sins of
the world: have mercy on us. (2x)
Lamb of God, you take away the sins of the
world: grant us peace.
(10am) Jesus, Lamb of God: have mercy on us.
Jesus, bearer of our sins: have mercy on us.
Jesus, redeemer, redeemer of the world:
give us your peace, give us your peace.
Holy, holy, holy
Hymnal S-130
(8am) Holy, Holy, Holy Lord,
God of power and might, heaven and earth are
full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord. Hosanna in the highest.
Communion
All baptized Christians are welcome to receive Holy
Communion at the Altar. If you come to the rail and
cross your arms over your chest, you may receive a
blessing instead of Communion.
If you would like to be baptized, please speak to
the Rev. Jason Wells as soon as possible for scheduling.
(10am) Holy, Holy, Holy Lord,
God of power and might, (2x)
Hymn 712
heaven and earth are full, full of your glory.
Closing Prayer
Hosanna in the highest. (2x)
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the
Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the
highest.
Memorial Acclamation
...we praise you and we bless you.
We praise you, we bless you,
we give thanks to you,
and we pray to you, Lord our God.
Lord’s Prayer
And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us,
we are bold to say,
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done,
Dona nobis pacem
Let us pray.
Eternal God, heavenly Father, you have graciously accepted us as living members of
your Son our Savior Jesus Christ, and you
have fed us with spiritual food in the Sacrament of his Body and Blood. Send us now
into the world in peace, and grant us strength
and courage to love and serve you with gladness and singleness of heart; through Christ
our Lord. Amen.

TAKE-A-TOTE
Please look for Maruchan
brand Instant Lunch: These
are microwaveable containers
costing about 28 cents. They
look like a Styrofoam cup, not
like a can of soup. If there are
cartons on the grocery shelf, a
purchase of 12 beef or chicken flavor would be terrific.
Thanks!
