Beaver Creek Community Calendar (Click the link above to view & use the calendar) Beaver Creek eNews February 27, 2015 Dear Neighbors One of the most beautiful Februaries ever is coming to an end. Most of it has been warm and mild, just ideal. A little rain has fallen, about an inch & a half, and maybe a chance for a little more this weekend. The new flagpole is up in Sycamore Park, five new benches are in Rollins Park, a pedestrian safety sign is in McGuireville and the pedestrian bridge has been craned into place. The flagpole has been donated by American Legion Post 135 which meets in Cornville. Member of that Post and local resident, John Maddox, has volunteered to raise and lower the flag as required. One of the new benches in Rollins Park was donated by the Nye family (owner's of Cricket's) in remembrance of Ralph Nye, Jr. The other benches were purchased and installed by the property owners association (LMPOA). Alberta Amos was a major donor in accomplishing that improvement. The pedestrian bridge installation went smoothly and quickly. It will be three to four weeks before it is open to use since the approaches still need work. The pedestrian bridge has not been painted since it arrived. It is rusting naturally and will gradually darken. Thank you's are due to Supervisor Thurman and Yavapai County Public Works for hearing community pleas for a crosswalk safety sign in McGuireville and getting one put in place! The missing horse has been found alive and returned to owner Mike Williams. Resident Ellen DalCerro called her horse and cattle connections and alerted them to look for the horse. She contacted the foreman of the V Bar V Ranch who then found the horse near M Diamond Ranch, still wearing a saddle and bridle but no reins. Through Ellen he was able to contact the owner to come get his horse. Mr. Williams extends heartfelt thank you's to all who searched. Joe Mongini, a Lake Montezuma resident for 43 years, died peacefully at home on Feb 14th. He was 96 years old. A rosary service will be held on Saturday, Feb 28th at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Camp Verde at 10:30 AM followed by a memorial service to be held there at 11 AM. A reception and celebration of Joe's life will be held at Vintages Grille starting at 12:30 PM. Mr Mongini was well-known throughout the community due to his daily walks and sweet personality. He lived an interesting life including birth in Italy and becoming the Mayor of Cottonwood. The information provided by his family members is in the Bugle at this link. His family requests donations to the Beaver Creek Adult Center in lieu of flowers. Montezuma Fire District is looking for two more board members. If you'd like to apply, the information is below.
