These questions will help prepare you for your Small Group session this week - so bring your answers with you to your Small Group meeting. Relate: Share of a time when you went outside your comfort zone to reach out to somebody from a difficult background. Reflect: Consider how a tax collector was viewed by Jewish society at the time of Jesus. What would be a modern-day equivalent of this despised individual? Levi’s decision to abandon his tax booth meant permanently leaving his job to follow Rabbi Jesus. What does Levi’s choice show about discipleship? Sunday, March 1st, 2015 Small Group Home Work: The Saviour Calling Sinners Why were the Pharisees so deeply offended by the actions of Jesus and His disciples described in v.29? What must the Pharisees have believed (about God, sin, righteousness) that made them consider it wrong to eat with sinners? How is the medical illustration significant in the context of the Chapter 5? What do Jesus’ words to the Pharisees reveal about His mission? Response: Has this study in any way changed your understanding of Jesus’ character and identity? What often stands in the way of us seeing ourselves for who we really are? Why do we often miss the true diagnosis of our spiritual malady? How can you follow Levi’s example (v.29) and Jesus’ example (v.29&31) with regard to sinners around you? How can you avoid acting toward sinners as the Pharisees did? 235 Albert Avenue, North Bay, Ontario (705) 474-0448 contactus@greenwoodbaptist.ca www.greenwoodbaptist.ca Lead Pastor - Tim Hawman - pastortim@greenwoodbaptist.ca Executive Pastor - Trevor Peck - pastortrevor@greenwoodbaptist.ca Today at Greenwood: Please Pray For: Sunday, March 1st The Kriese family as they just welcomed a brand new baby boy, Samuel, into their family. 9:00 am First Worship Service Nursery (0-18 months).
