Upcoming Auditions
The Yellow Boat
2015 Teen Non Musical Production
By David Sar
Directed by Paula Nowak
Big Deal Productions is pleased to announce auditions for this beautiful piece of
theatre, The Yellow Boat. The story of The Yellow Boat is a glorious affirmation of
a child's life, and the strength and courage of all children. This dramatization is
based on the true story of David and Sonja Saar's son, Benjamin, who was born
with congenital hemophilia, and died in 1987 at the age of 8 of complications.
A uniquely gifted visual artist, Benjamin's buoyant imagination transformed his
physical and emotional pain into a blaze of colors and shapes in his fanciful
drawings and paintings. Benjamin's remarkable voyage continues to touch
audiences around the world.
Auditions are open to all performers in grades 8 - 12, and will be held on
Wednesday, March 4 at the Community Arts Center. Callbacks will be held
on Thursday, March 5. Rehearsals for this production will be held on Monday
and Wednesday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. Cast members will be
responsible for securing appropriate footwear/tights/undergarments and
stage make-up for the show. Performances are scheduled for May 6, 7, 8
and 9 at 7:30 pm at the Community Arts Center. For more information on the
audition process, or to schedule your audition, please contact Jessi Hersman at
