Power Outage
"And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and
she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him. 20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out
of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.
21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did
grind in the prison house." Judges 16:19-21
Take some ice, add some snow, then more ice, and finish up with some strong winds and you have disaster on the plateau, leaving half
the county with no power. How things change so quickly. One minute enjoying all the pleasantries we are accustomed to, and the next
minute scrambling for flashlights, generators, and extra blankets. I have to admit, sometimes I give in to the sentimental images
conjured by the aged talking about simpler times in the "good ol days" without electricity and modern conveniences. Until the lights
go out...then the day dreaming is over and it's "back to the future" for me. Most would confess that we don't like trying to function
without our electricity. In fact in my household even hours, if not days, after the power goes out, we laugh at each other for flipping a
switch on by habit, forgetting it doesn't work without power. Now isn't that a curious thing? Habit compels us to flip on a light switch
but nothing happens, check a thermostat but nothing registers, plug in to charge a cell phone with no effect. Well most of that is
harmless, but it does go to show how prone we are to operate out of habit with little thought given to the essentialness of the power
behind it all. In the same way Samson experienced a spiritual power outage because of his sin, and when he tried to carry on out of
habit he was defeated. I'm afraid too often Christians are guilty of the same. Going through the motions out of habit, wondering why
nothing seems to work, but forgetting the essential power from God necessary to bring it all to life. I like what Warren Wiersbe says,
"the Christian life is not hard, it's impossible...without the Spirit of God". If you're experiencing a spiritual power outage contact the
power plant of Heaven and get plugged in to the commanding power of His Name, the cleansing power of His blood, the claiming
power of His Word, and the controlling power of His Spirit. In the Bible passage above, though Samson had foolishly lost so much,
the next verse of Judges 16 says "Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again". Let us also come out of the dark cold and be
revived with fresh power, because the tasks ahead will require it! --- Bro. Scott

PLEASANT HILL MISSION
MARCH 22nd
HIGH ATTENDANCE SUNDAY
SCHOOL SUNDAY
I Corinthians 3:9-11: We are so blessed to have a foundation
that is solid, supernatural, and eternal on which to build on. In
this passage Paul is speaking to the Corinthians about not
following man, but following God. At Pleasant Hill Baptist
Mission we are not trying to do anything new or exciting we
are trying to build a building that will endure the test of time
because it is built on the Lord Jesus Christ. We have been
blessed to have a core group of people to come and serve and
help with the work at Pleasant Hill, so we are not concerned
about numbers as much as we are that which is being built in
the lives of those who have come to join us and serve with us
in this fellowship of believers. I have received great support
and encouragement from LRBC and I'm so appreciative for
the opportunity to serve in this work with you. We will be
having some events this year to reach out to the community
and share the Gospel with our Jerusalem. I want to thank you
for your support and prayers and ask you to continue to pray
for the ministry of PHBM as we go forward, we want to
continue to build on what was started a little over a year ago in
a community that like all of Crossville needs the Lord and to
hear the Gospel. We know that the Lord Jesus is the
Cornerstone and the One who is building His Church, PHBM
is part of what God is doing so we just want to join and follow
His Leadership and direction. We still have many needs in the
form of leaders and mature Disciples as we move forward that
will allow us to invest in the lives of our congregation and see
Discipleship in action. The Foundation is laid in Christ, the
blueprint was given 2000 years ago, so now we are going to
continue to plant and water and leave the Increase to God,
because we are truly labourers together with God. I don't
know what could be more exciting than to be a labourer with
the One who owns it all, and allows us to be a part of
His Kingdom work.
In Christ Alone, Gary Robbins
There is so much more below the
surface.
I was recently talking with a lady who told me that her church
had just recently had a vote on whether or not to continue
having Sunday School. However, it was decided by their
leadership group to continue with Sunday School because they
felt they would be taking away something important from the
children. It’s amazing that we should ever find ourselves
having to defend the importance of Sunday School. After all,
we can thank Sunday School for giving us pastors,
missionaries and evangelists. At Lantana Road in addition to
a great Sunday School for children we also have a wonderful
Sunday School for adults. Our age appropriate classes and
Bible based lessons provide opportunities for everyone. The
real importance of Sunday School is that it has a dynamic
ministry to every member of the family. Wonderful things
happen in Sunday School. Sunday School: provides an
opportunity for personal application of the scriptures based on
the age level of the participant, provides a place for new
people to make friends and learn to grow as disciples and
helps you grow in sharing your faith in Jesus with others. We
will be having Sunday School High Attendance Day on March
22nd. Let’s all work together to make this a great high
attendance day.
What can YOU do for high attendance day?
 Be verbally supportive of the effort to reach more
people for Bible study and worship.
 Ask God to use you during this effort in a special
way.
 Pray for this effort of our church to reach more
people for Christ.
 Be willing to help contact members and absentees
and encourage them to come on high attendance day.
 Make a personal commitment to be present on high
attendance day.
 Ask God to bring to your mind someone you could
invite to Sunday School and invite them.
 Encourage all your family members to come to
Sunday School on high attendance day and to bring
someone with them.
 Give God all the glory for what He will do through
you.
