About the K L University
K L University is a pioneer in the field of
Engineering education and research in the
state of Andhra Pradesh. It’s knowledge base
stems from the presence of highly qualified
academic staff that brings with them rich
Industrial, Research and teaching experience.
The departments are fully equipped to take
advanced research in wide range of fields like
Energy, Bio-Technology, Nano-materials, smart
grid and Engineering. The University research
activities are supported by sponsored projects
from Government agencies like DST and DRDO.
Workshop Theme
Sustainable development is not possible without
sustainable energy. Access to modern energy
services is fundamental to human development.
Working together, we can achieve a broadbased transformation of the India’s energy systems
and build a more prosperous, healthier, cleaner
and safer India for this and future generations
through the use of sustainable Energy. It is known
that fossil fuel derived energy consumption has
brought host of problems, prominent being
pollution (GHGs and associated climate change
issues). In this context, self-sustainability, energy
security, energy independence and carbon
credits have become buzzwords among the
research community. The only solution is to
adopt energy conservation techniques and
switching over to alternative/ sustainable/
renewable energy sources such as solar, wind,
biomass, geothermal etc. It is interesting to know
that many of the power generating enterprises
are diversifying their activities on the energy
generation through renewables. Recognizing
the vast potential of renewables, Government
of India is taking up several initiatives in the area
of renewable energy through independent
ministry; Ministry of new and renewable energy
(MNRE). However, these renewables have their
advantages and limitations viz., region specific
and season specific. The National Workshop on
Sustainable Energy (SE) – Present practices and
future perspectives to be held during March
18-19, 2015, for the benefit of budding research
scholars and faculty Engineering and Technology
intends to provide an insight into state of the art
of use of the above mentioned energy sources
through modern technologies. SE brings together
top-level leadership from all sectors of society –
governments, business and Civil Society.
