AARP Tax Aide appointments will be open to non-residents, 60 years of
age and older, beginning Monday, March 2. Residents may continue to call
for appointments, which are filling quickly. Don’t wait to schedule yours!
Believe it or not, Summer Repair Projects will be starting soon. See page
2 of the newsletter if you would like information or would like to request an
application.
Our new Event Coordinator, Elyse, has been working hard to plan social
events and trips to keep you busy! Be sure to stop in the office to pick up
the latest materials. We are currenlty taking reservations for multiple trips.
The Ohio Benefits Bank is a screening tool that allows someone to learn
what programs they might be eligible for (like HEAP or SNAP) and initiate an
application to many of those programs. If you are struggling to meet your
expenses, please call our South Euclid or Mayfield Heights office to
schedule an appointment to have a screening.
Save the Date! The South Euclid Commission on Aging will hold its 13th
annual card party and bake sale on Monday, May 4 from 11:303:30. Tickets ($8) include lunch and an afternoon of fun. Proceeds benefit
older residents of South Euclid. Contact Jim at 216-291-4358 for information
or to purchase tickets.
The Mayfield Heights Commission on Aging will hold their first 2015 dance
on Saturday, April 25 from 6:30-9:30 at the Ross C. DeJohn Community
Center. Couples and singles are welcome. Tickets are $5 at the door;
entertainment by Frank Cardone!
The Safe at Home Program is available to residents of all five
communities. Priority is given to those who cannot afford to pay for
equipment themselves. The program offers grab bars, hand rails,
transitions strips and other safety equipment, as well as durable
medical equipment, to increase safety in the home. To inquire about having
a free assessment of your home or to complete an application for the Safe at
Home Program, please contact our South Euclid or Mayfield Heights office.

Meet the CPA Volunteer Diversity Committee!
Volunteers Brave the Winter Weather!
The Volunteer Diversity Committee, comprised of CPA
volunteers from our communities, is just beginning its
third year! Representatives from this committee staffed
an informational table at four lunch sites in February. If
you are interested in becoming part of this committee,
or would like to attend a diversity workshop, please call
Corinne Dunn.
Many thanks to our committee
participants Jeannie
Aldridge,
Elizabeth
DeFrancesco, Doris Evans, Alvira Green, Art Kraus,
Beverly Peterson, Phyllis Raphael, Stuart Schulhof,
and Kazem Soufi for their continued support of this
important issue.
Many thanks to the following individuals who have
assisted residents with light snow shoveling and
trash can removal throughout the winter. Your help
is so appreciated!!
Community Volunteers Needed!
Individuals, families, and groups are needed to
conduct our annual spring yard cleanups. This
service is offered to older adults in our five-city area.
You can choose your own date and time to
volunteer during the month of April or May. It’s a
great way to give service and have fun at the same
time!
We also recognize the work of our monthly
newsletter deliverers. Neither rain, nor snow, nor
sleet will keep these volunteers from completing
their thirty-five routes!
For information about how you can help, please call
216-291-3902, ext. 213.
Quote of the Month
You don’t need endless time and perfect
conditions. Do it now. Do it today. Do it for
twenty minutes and watch your heart start
beating.
— Barbara Sher
From The Heart of a Volunteer
Save the Date!
The annual volunteer luncheon for
individuals who volunteered a minimum of
ten hours in 2014 will take place on
Thursday, May 28, at the Hilton Garden Inn
