the United States to show solidarity with the Church in
Latin America and to share their faith with those who
have fewer financial resources. In 2015, this collection
will support projects aimed at strengthening families,
including supporting attendance at the World Meeting
of Families, and Consecrated Life. This collection will
be taken up the weekend of Mach 21 and 22. Please

Offering/Stewardship of Treasure Appeal is being well
received by the people of this Parish. To date 135
people have responded to Fr. Cioppi’s letter
representing a combined weekly increase of $681.97.
If you have not yet responded, please use the special
envelope to indicate your new contribution amount and
enclose it in this envelope. You may also use this
envelope to note any special circumstances you may
have, or any pastoral support Father can provide. Next
week use your regular Sunday envelope for your new

Dear Friends,
Try not to let today’s readings be completely
overshadowed by your familiarity with the passage
from John 3:16. There is so much here for mediation
and prayer, gratitude and celebration. Indeed, God so
loves the world that He acted through history and even
today He works through the Holy Spirit just as He did
through Cyrus of Persia. As I said last week, the
meditation of the Church focus most determinedly on
the Passion and Death of Jesus and so all our
readings must be interpreted through the lens of the
Paschal Mystery to come.
This is indeed Laetare Sunday for God is rich in mercy,
even when we are dead in our transgressions; we are
brought to life in Christ. Life is a gift from God not from
man and so our rejoicing should be deeply felt within
our souls.
This week we have many other devotional celebrations
in the Memorial of Saint Patrick and the Solemnity of
Saint Joseph and then above all, the beginning of
Spring FINALLY I want to remind you that in Lent, the Blessed
Sacrament is exposed on the Altar on Sundays for
your family’s visitation. This visitation concludes at
4:00pm with Evening Prayer. No better way to
conclude the Lord’s Day with your family. Please make
an effort to join us during the day or even pray with us.

I would also like to remind you of the ARCHBISHOP’S

VISIT to our parish on March 29 at the 11:30 Mass.
This will be a great opportunity to meet the Archbishop
and for him to see us and experience the welcoming
and enthusiastic parish we are!
ALSO, one last thing: On PALM SUNDAY EVENING,
we are hosting the Xavier Company at 7:30. They will
be performing “No Greater Love” for us. This troupe
has been here a number of times now and has
produced marvelous work. I encourage you and your
family to join us for this moving performance.

RICE BOWL FOCUS
HUNGERING FOR PEACE
We journey with CRS Rice Bowl to
Lebanon to be present to a people
who themselves are on a journey.
Here we meet Syrian refugees who
are forced to leave their homeland.
We are challenged through our
almsgiving this week to reach out to those who are
forced to leave their homes, who are seeking shelter in
a land of peace. Catholic Relief Services is working
hard to help children enjoy their childhood. That
means they support schools where children can learn
and play – and where there are counselors who help
them work through the trauma experienced fleeing
their homeland.
CRS continues to provide food
vouchers to help meet the family’s immediate needs.
People are grateful for the food, but still pray for lasting
peace. And so we pray:
Make us worthy, Lord, to serve those people
throughout the world who live and die in poverty and
hunger. Give them through our hands, this day, their
daily bread, and by our understanding love, give them
peace and joy. Amen.

WHAT IS AN RCIA “SCRUTINY”?
On March 8, 15, and 22 we will celebrate the three
Scrutinies with the people being baptized at Easter.
Scrutinies are the rituals before an adult baptism in
which all that is weak, defective, or sinful in the hearts
of the elect is brought forward, and all that is upright,
strong, and good is strengthened. The Scrutinies are
celebrated in order to deliver the elect from the power
of sin and Satan, to protect them against temptation,
and to give them strength in Christ, who is the way, the
truth, and the life. (RCIA #141)

Due to the overwhelming success of the Tuesday
Tours and attendance at our Open House events, our
preschool through kindergarten registration is
booming! We have already filled our morning preK3
class, morning Transitional Kindergarten class, and
prek4 morning session and project to offer 2 full day
kindergarten sessions again next year! We have
afternoon prek3 slots, as well as afternoon Transitional
Kindergarten spaces still available and are forming a
waitlist as we consider opening another prek4 morning
session. Please continue to share the good news
about MTC and encourage friends and neighbors to
contact the school as soon as possible so that we can
properly prepare for next year. Your continued prayers
for the continued growth of MTC School is greatly
appreciated! Registration for grades 1 through 8 will
open soon.
